Hi all - long time!! I currently have a 2005 Goldwing with a Hannigan kit, and need help with left brake caliper. According to the booklet I have, it should be from a 1984-1987 Honda Civic CRX. Is there any way to narrow down the year so we can find the correct part? The casting # on the existing caliper is V496, if that matters.

Thank you!! :)

Usually when they give a range of years, it's because they all use the same part. So you can pick any one and it will work When I see a range, I will usually pick a middle. So if it's a 1984-87, I will just look for 1985 or 1986 stuff.

Same thing with Goodwings. Many of the 2001-2005 will be the same, 2006-2010, and then 2012-2017. Not everything will be the same but quite a few will.

Hi Mike, that's what we figured too, but when we've called auto parts stores, they want us to give them a specific year. So far, they've been out of stock no matter what year we've told them. Since we may have to order online, we're hoping to narrow it down to reduce the possibility of a return being needed. I'm trying to sell the trike, and this is slowing things up. :(

Hi Cheri! Great to see you! I'm going to text Brad the lead tech at Hannigan right now and see if he can tell me what specific part you'll need. I was chatting with him earlier so maybe he'll get right back with me and I'll report back here shortly.

Front caliper? This is for the left brake on the trike kit. Are you saying they use the front one for that, or am I reading it wrong?

As always, you are a wonder!! :D Thank you SOOO much!

Yes, Brad specified a Honda Civic CRX Front caliper. I just got back last night from spending a week at Hannigan doing a training build with Brad on a BMW K1600GTL trike for a customer out of New Orleans who picked it up this morning. I also brought back a Harley Transformer conversion for another customer we'll be installing on his Harley Ultra Fire Fighters Special Edition. Going to be a beautiful trike as well.

@Papa Zook is correct. Many trikes with independent rear suspension utilize shafts with CV joints just like front wheel drive cars. That's like on my GL1800 California Sidecar conversion, the hubs on rear are the same as 1997 Chevy Cavalier front hubs. Also a front wheel drive car.

Hi Cheri as Papa Zook said the front caliber. It doesn't matter if it's a front when it's used on a different application ie your Honda Conversion. The conversion people make the mounting plate and rotor to make it work just fine. Do you need a whole new caliber or just looking for the pads? Just curious. Good luck on your sale.

Hay Cheri How's it going? If you have not found one yet I can try the part store's I buy from, I get a discount I will give it to you for my price you can stop by & pick it up? I just tried to find one, no luck. you say you need a left one I think you will need a right front to put on the left rear because you will be flipping it over to put on the rear, that way the brake bleeder will be on the top where it has to be to bleed the brakes, I did see a few on EBAY for around $ 100.00

Road Dog!!! How are you??? Haven't seen you guys in forever! LOL

Yes, still looking for the right part. Zook is going to try to get the part number from his contact at Hannigan, so hopefully we can get the trike fixed & sold soon. :)

Can you post a picture of the caliper? Did you buy another trike or you done riding?

I'll see about getting a picture of it. And no, didn't get another. I can't ride right now - I had surgery about 2 years ago, but a side effect is chronic discomfort/pain in my ribs & side, so steering is difficult to say the least. I keep hoping it will get better, but in the meantime the trike is just sitting & collecting dust. :(

Thats to bad, I hope you get better soon. Get a picture I will find you a caliper.

Thanks! Hubby ordered a part before you responded - putting it on now. Hopefully it's the right one, but if not we now know what to look for. :D

The Duralast brand is from AutoZone. Hopefully when you went into auto parts store, you didn't tell them it was for a trike. What I have found is once you do that, you get the starry eyed look and then they start to shut down and tell you they cant help because they don't carry parts for trikes. You need to tell them you need a left caliper for the front wheel for a 1986 Honda Civic. It seems strange that no stores would carry that.

Worst case, go to Rockauto.com and search for Honda 1986

Rock auto sent a part, but it doesn't fit. AutoZone shows it on their website, but when we called they said that none of their stores carry or could get it. O'Reilly's said it's a special order, and no guarantee they could get it (we've asked them to try anyway). Still looking around....

Found the part number on Rockauto's site (Cardone brand name, not Duralast), but it's out of stock. :(

Ok, I see that Rock Auto lists 3 different Cardone front left calipers but only 1 mentions the CRX Part # 19B747. Was that the one you ordered?

He said he ordered a Cardone part (I can't remember which one) for a Honda CRX. The part we received was a Centric part for a Honda Civic.
