New Rear Rotors Warped on my TG??

Apparently the mechanic cleaned up the caliper pins and lubed them so the pads could move better?? I did tell the service manager that he should have done this anyway with a standard brake job! He agreed.
I’ve been following your thread of your experience and will 100% agree that those caliper pins should be lubed and standard procedure during any brake job.

And as a matter of fact, they are smart enough to know the rotor runout (per service manual)…. But failed to follow protocol of not only checking these caliper pins (aka: “Mount bushing pins”)… but also failed to indeed lube them, per the service manual:

Here’s a video I did on my 2014 (non ABS- linked brake system) and show exactly doing this. (They were gunked up and I was not surprised).
Approx Time stamp 7:00 shows exactly this:

You asked previously about the runout & the service manual does indeed specify a .008 (8 thousandths) as maximum acceptance of both the front and indeed the rear rotors:

Glad to hear they got you finally fixed up and acceptable results now.

Enjoy your vaca & enjoy your riding & ride safe!!
👍🏻👍🏻

I don't think you can get rotors turned anymore; shops just replace them! It doesn't matter how big the rotor is, 8 thousand out is 8 thousand out. Are they both out or just one of them? The shop should make it right, but they aren't going to. If they were going to stand behind the work they wouldn't give it back to you and say it was better, better aint good enough, it is either fixed or it isn't!!! Bite the bullet and take it to the Harley dealer and have them fix it. If you make an appointment and can wait for it, they might be able to take care of it in a few hours.

The OP posted his NEW and updated results as he did have the shop recheck everything on post# 26, #30 & #31 after he took it back to them - and also stated a much better results afterwards.

I simply just added some input and info (from the service manual from my year trike)…although his is a 2019, that particular info should be the same and applicable to his trike as well.

Glad he got it better and acceptable now.

Well thanks all you guys! And thanks for the info and specs on the rotors 14TG I may get another chance to ride a bit today, only rode about 3 miles yesterday it did seem better.
I may look for someone who can still turn rotors to just true them up abit.
I've never pulled rear calipers (on a Trike) can I just un-bolt them and pull the rotors or do I have to deal with the emergency brake linkage etc?

Not a problem @Arctic Fox !
The video I posted a few posts back is on my 2014 (which is non ABS) and I also have the “linked brake system” but I will assume it’s the same procedure including unadjusting the e-brake cable, then the readjustment after it’s all complete.
I will see if I can get more information that applies to your 2019.
Again, I believe it is the same… The only thing that is different that I know of is when you are bleeding the brakes if you ever decide to do that on your own.
Steve at SIK BAGGERS made a video on this and I will see if I can find a link to it.
(in fact, I think it was on here that someone else also posted it too).
UPDATE:
Hers the video link from SIK BAGGERS:
(Note: it is for the 2014-2018 year trikes, so it is slight different than your 2019, but great video that he also did!
You may want to consult your dealer to verify that the E-brake procedure is the same on your 2019.

Got the trike back, took it for a quick spin seemed a lot better. Still noticeable but better. Probably the 3-4 thousandth run out. I'll take it on the trip and see how it does. So good to have it back! I love this thing, I want to get on it all the time! My lonely 013 Road glide sits in the shop and I don't miss it at all! With only 12.5k miles like new I don't plan on giving it away, so it looks like I will own it awhile!
I'm curious, how many miles are on your trike. I have 36,000 on my 17 and wondering how long before I need to replace mine.

Latest update on my brakes. Just recently got back from our trip, the brakes never improved. The rear rotors were still badly warped!

The shop called me (on my trip) and said they would have new OEM Harley rotors and pads waiting for me. Well, they just installed the parts the other day, and everything seemed just perfect for the 50-mile drive home! They took care of me and didn't charge me a dime! Although I did tip them well!
So I'm a happy, happy guy.

They're going to try and get Drag Specialties to cover the parts, etc, under warranty, who knows.
So obviously, I would only recommend genuine HD rotors and stay away from any aftermarket brands. Thanks
