Nail in Tire?

Well, was checking torque on my rims yesterday

when I noticed a nail head sticking out oif my left tire!

I was going to try plugging it myself, at least temporarily

so off I go to get a plug kit and vulcanizing rubber glue

got home took the tools out laid everything out

put the strip in middle of tool

reamed out the tip on the tube of rubber glue

then pulled the "nail" out.

Turns out it was just a little finishing or wood screw which

didn't penetrate the tire, rode it then checked this morning

no air loss.

Next time that happens I'll pull out whatever is in there FIRST,

maybe save me some time, at least I didn't glue the strip...LOL

Its amazing how much better tires are nowadays....Back in the 50's/60's you would see people changing flats all the time on the side of the road...Now its rare to see some on the side of the road with a flat tire...

Tire technology has come a long ways Bob

Look at run flats for 1

Would you believe i have seen a pencil cause a flat tire?

I have found some interesting things inside of flat tires including a Craftsman 1/4 drive ratchet:p
