A Day in the Life...

Got them mostly welded up today. Still have a little to do, here and there...then they need to be clear coated.

It's been a busy and COLD long weekend!

Hope everyone had a great 3 days!

I got out for a 30 minute New Years Day ride in 20* sunny temps. Was a tad chilly, even with the electric jacket, to comfortably ride any longer. Must be getting old. lol

Gheesh! The tear drop trailer looks heavy enough but the other set-up...I’m surprised that bike can pull that load!

Mary and I have looked at those tear drop trailers before...they're light and pretty nice...but don't fold out as big as a tent trailer.

The double trailer set up is crazy. :xzqxz:

Must be out of warranty to pull those!

Yeah, prolly so. lol

Here's one of our Customers Bikes...it was in warranty when they started work on it...not so much anymore. :D

We've had a couple of weeks of unusual cold...Man, it was so nice to ride home last night in 50* temps. :D

It was a bit foggy...stopped to try and get a photo...this one shows wisps of fog floating by.

Yesterday afternoon I had appointments up in Memphis. Got to ride yesterday for over 150 miles in 60* weather. Today it is 64* degrees! :)

But tomorrow we are going to be back in the low 20's with freezing rain and snow!

Snow is a novelty around here. If it actually shows up, may get a video riding in it. :)

Crazy day today!

Left for the shop this morning. Roads had a layer of ice, and then snow on top of the ice.

Tri-Glide handled fine (no abrupt turns or braking), but I kept it below 35 mph.

Normally I do not hear my phone while riding, but about halfway to the shop I heard it ringing. I pulled off the road.

It was Devin letting me know that a truck had slid off the road into a power pole. Result: No electricity at the shop.

So I turned around and headed back home. It was a fun ride, out in the ice and snow. Not something I'd want to do everyday, but fun once or twice a year. :)

Video of the ride this morning will be edited and posted in the next day or so.

Oh, and then when I got home our website server glitched. Was down for about an hour before we got it back up and running.

Quite a day!

Went out to the "heated" home shop today. Had some work to do on the Tri-Glide.

Well....

...this is what I saw when I got out there...

3%20days%20later%202.jpg

...it's been three days since I was riding in the snow and ice, and it has melted off the TG some, but then just froze on the floor!

Obviously the heater for the home shop is not up to the task when it is in the teens outside.

I took these photos, turned around, and went back in the house where it was warm! No work done on the bikes today!!!

Photo from my ride on Friday morning-

No incident or accident 👍🏼

Are y’all expecting snow tonight?

It’s snowing here in Jackson Tn as I post. Forecasters say 3” and then fridge cold for 48 hrs.

Ready for Climate Change....

Interesting article! Thanks for posting.

Strike Two! :icon_errrr:

Friday I left for work on icy roads, covered by a bit of snow. Got halfway there and ended up turning around because the electricity went out at the shop.

By last night, all the ice had melted. Then we got about 3" of snow.

Left the house this morning for the shop...

...It was 18* and nice powdery snow....

Leaving%20for%20Work%20A%201-16-18.jpg

...the TG handles really well in snow. I've ridden in snow quite a bit with no problems...it's the ice that makes it slippery. Today, no ice, just snow...

...had my longjohns on, electric jacket liner, I was toasty warm, ready for a scenic ride in.

It was not to be. within 1/2 mile I had made 3 turns, and on the 2nd and 3rd turn it was obvious that there was a bunch of ice under the snow.

Called the shop and found out that it was even worse down there. Several folks had had many near misses on the way in.

So, I turned around and headed back home. Stymied by the ice again! Working from the home office today.

Ice under the snow sucks

Black ice scares me

I hit some in MN in early March on an on ramp, it spun me all the way around

Lucky for me I was going slow and came out of the spin in the right direction

This was on a 92 FLHS I have not ridden my trike in the snow and I do not plan on it

Stay warm and safe;)

I'm with Jack - I ain't getting my Tri-Glide out in the snow.

Left the house at 4:30 am this morning in my SUV to bring the Mrs. to the hospital for her knee replacement surgery. And with the 3" of snow and some icy spots that was 'sporty' enough for me!

Yeah, no doubt about it...ice is scary stuff.

C'mon Jerry! Snow is fun! As long as no ice is involved. :)

How did the surgery go?

Wishing a fast and smooth recovery, for you both!

Thanks for asking Kevin. Her surgery was textbook perfect. She's doing great and I know she will be glad to have the knee pain gone after she heals and does the rehab.

Snow is fine but you know in our part of the country ice lurks and sometimes it is difficult to detect. About twenty years ago our daughter's best friend was killed when her car ran off the road after encountering some black ice in a curve. Not even going very fast. I am very respectful of road conditions and in my old age just don't want to push it. Be careful out there.

We live with way to much traffic and besides that the DOT puts nasty chemicals to melt snow and Ice Mag. chloride. Not mention old fashioned salt and Calcium nice stuff. bad enough wet but when dry get in places you never thought of. ride safe and have a great time  Fred
