Passenger bought me a backrest

Well, I stated to my wife that my next purchase would be a backrest. We went by the Harley shop yesterday and she allowed me to buy one. They said it was only $80 labor to install it, so it came home in the box with me to be installed today. Not a bad install, but their instructions are a joke. One picture showed the release lever cable mounted to its bracket one way and another picture showed it the other way. Instructions are on one page while the figures referenced are on another page. It states parts need to be installed when they already are. Overall, written by a 4th grader.
Other than that, it was an easy job. First ride with it showed me how bad my posture was up to this point. Wife likes it too. She said she feels more secure with just having it right there in front of her. Now to save my pennies for the next addition, whatever that may be.

Which HD backrest (part#) did you buy?

I don't remember the backrest number itself, but it is the smooth one. I bought the 54099-10 adjustable mount.

I would, but I am ashamed of myself right now. My baby's dirty. Tree pollen keeps covering her and she has bugs in her teeth. She needs a bath first, but I can't stay off of the road long enough to do it.

Kuryakyn makes great instructions. Actual pictures go right along with written steps. Harley instructions are a joke. Thank goodness I have the service manual to help, a little!

I put mine on while I was camping in North Carolina with out the luxury of my shop and tools had to use what I had with me but I have enjoyed it and now it works even better with my reduced reach handle bars.
