I have a 2011 triglide and it seems to me that every 7000 miles it needs a new front tire, I'm using the front tire now, any suggestions

Common for a trike.... the dark side ride a rear motorcycle tire on their front and a auto tire on the rear ... I did that till I went to a trike .... just put a Dunlap Elite 2; 130/90/16 (REAR) motorcycle tire on the front of my 05 Electra glide trike. Looks great, rides great, and has the ----:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:Made in USA right on the side (its the only one)
I have an 11 T/G, I replaced the front tire at 14 thousand miles, And now have 16 thousand miles on the present tire.. Both tires are stock Harley's..
How are your tires wearing.. Are they cupping or wearing even... ?
I run 36PSI on the front.. And 26 PSI in the rear.. [30 thousand miles on them]
Also have you checked the steering stabilizer. On the 11 the two 9/16 bolts that hold the stabilizer to the top of the head have a tendency to loosen.. Had them loosen on me a few times...Lucky I caught it in time..
well ...... everyone is entitled to an opinion ..... a rear motorcycle tire on the front of a trike will last many times longer that a regular front ... if you ride interstate maybe a front will last, but there are much more sever lateral forces working on the front of a trike ..... check it out on line .... lots of trike riders use a rear tire on the front not to mention the entire group on the Dark Side LOL here's my Dunlop I looked a long time at the tread designs .... finial decision based on that and USA manufacturer.
Man where do you live? :xzqxz:... I ordered my tire $145.00 free shipping Amazon .... took front off had new tire mounted & balanced $8.00 put it back on ....... total cost $153.00 .... and I'm 68 ...... LMOWAO (laugh my old wrinkled ass off)
I have a Dunlop American Elite Rear Tire, MT90B16, part #34AE92 just waiting for my front tire to wear a little more. Rated for a heavier load, deeper tread depth and it's one of the Multi Tread which has a center wear area is a longer lasting compound. :Coffee:
Good deal ... it looked like the best one for the price ... I mounted mine in the correct rotation according to the arrow ... I personally don't think the tread splice comes in to play on the new tires. I looked ----A LOT---- on the net found no real reason to reverse it...... good luck with it .... mines going to the Dragon in May .....:clapping:
I think I am definitely going to the American ELite when the tire wears out and probably run it in the correct rotation. With the Multitread it should get better mileage than the stock Dunlop.

in Conway about 50 miles. Got a trike shop here in town, with a tire dealer next door that mounts tire and Misty Mountain Trikes balances it, course I have to pull rim off. No big deal on the front, nor the back now its a tike ... the same tire shop mounted my car tires on the back too, back when I was on two wheels .... balance went to smeg ... All depends on how and where you ride. I've worn 50% of the tread off a front tire in less then 1000 miles...in the twistys and going fast. I've also had front tires last 14,000 miles with "normal" riding.
I have not gone to a rear up front yet, but am seriously considering it on the next front.
BTW, fuzzy, I ride pretty aggressively, AND with lower than factory PSI in the rear tires. I think you're going to save even more than you think...you should be able to get 40-50K miles out of the rear tires on your TG.

After hours of research here and other sites, I decided to put a rear Michelin Commander II in reverse on the front my Venture/Hannigan. Have not rode it yet; in shop now--tire being put on and prep for season. Lot's of positives from trikers about this tire. I'm about a year old with trikes, very old with 2 wheels. If you decide to do this, you might want to make sure the tire installer will do (legalities--understandable). Mine did after contacting Hannigan/others.

I've been reading the information on running a rear on the front for my 2012 Ultra conversion and am convinced that is the way to go. Now the issue is the limitation of options without changing the front wheel. As mine is a conversion the stock front wheel is 17", OEM tire is a 130/80 17. To keep that diameter, width and aspect ratio for a heavy bike I'm looking at these 3: 1> Michelin Pilot Activ 2> Metzeler ME Z2 3> Avon AM26. ----- I can not seem to find a rear Dunlop that will fit the specs. Open to ideas, and thanks in advance for the input.

You might have to get a HD 16 front rim and use the 16" rear tire. I got well over 25k on mine before I sold the trike.
That is my choice for a replacement as well... but for now, I have 16K on my original, with plenty of margin left.

Took Blue III in for 15,000 service and put a new front tire on. Not sure how I got such good mileage out of mine compared to others. Had them put on a Dunlop American Elite Multi Tread Rear tire turned backwards. Other than dropping the air pressure down from 42psi to 38psi it handles great. Should be able to get 20 to 25K out of this one... :Coffee:
