What kind of suspension does the Factory Harley TriGlide have on them.

I want an honest answer here. Does anyone know the specific suspension the 2015 triglide has. Is it a "no lean" or an independent suspension.

When I have asked the sales people at Harley, they all say independent suspension. Is this correct?

Go to a different dealer or get a salesperson that knows what they are talking about.

The TRI does NOT have independent suspension nor the FreeWheeler never have. It has a straight axle suspension. Just get down and look under it. The rear suspension is a differential with an axle tube that is welded to the differential going out each side. Near the end of each tube is the shock connection.

Both sides will move when one side hits a bump. Independent suspension is just what the word says, one side can move up and down and have no effect on the other side because the axles are allowed to move independently.

Now with that being said the straight axle is not necessarily better then independent or worse. It is a personal thing. I have a TRI. I have owned a trike with both types. I like my TRI. I did change the shocks to a Progressive non air shock but I like the ride of the straight axle. I am on vacation in the NE US and the roads here are definitely bumpy. If you really are looking for the best ride then you also have to put wheel base in to the equation.

It's all about trade offs and costs.

What one dealer told me was back in the 20'S or so Mr DAVIDSON was friends with HENRY FORD, HD wanted to build trikes so Henry gave them a few MODEL T rear axles to try out ,it worked so good there still using them today, they upgraded to disc brakes . something works don't change it

Harley sell's every 3 wheeler they make' Sales people are just the dealerships way of doing good by hiring the handicapped or a relative....

I haven't had any issues riding my 2012 Hannigan Wing through corners with potholes, it's IRS. I'm a pretty aggressive rider, IMO IRS takes potholes better than straight axle.

A couple guys said they liked this answer and I don't know why. There isn't a word of truth in your take on how a IRS trike handles in a pothole filled corner. They do just fine and the picture is very pretty and a lot smoother than a SA could ever do in that corner.

I have watched these debates about the attributes of the IRS type suspensions vs the SA types for several years and have come to a conclusion. While the IRS type has only been around for about 15 years, and the SA type has been around since the 1930's, there seems to be an awful lot of mechanical failures and driveline issues with the IRS type and the SA type are still stroking.ThumbUp
