What did you do to your Trike this week?

Desert classic,
WOW, that's impressive work. I thought the 20 degrees difference was very noteworthy. Did your back cylinder ever cut out because it overheated? Last year at the Laconia bike week, we had a huge line of traffic and a few of the Harleys had to be pushed off the road because of overheating.

Manny, you and Rocket are riding in style! Sure looks good!
See you this Fall in VT!

I use ward's fans for my HD's. Really helps a bunch. Got caught in stop and go traffic getting home from OK.... 22 miles of red light every block. Got caught at them close to 70% of the time. Took 2 hours to get through it. Never hit heat mode or did the heat cause me any discomfort. I was shocked. My wife did not complain, which was the shock.

I haven't done anything to the goldwing lately, still riding it for now. It doesn't get serviced for storage because it is never put in storage for winter.
Been busy doing work others bikes and got to get started on my VTX due to a short in the wiring. It never ends you know.

I rode my trike to the local dealer this frigid morning and had all the fluids changed out for a complete Red line change. I had some noise in both the top end and transmission. I also didn't believe the purchasing dealer had changed the fluids as they said. Now the noise is gone and the transmission shifts much better.
Also glad I had the heated jacket liner to wear. I had that thing almost fully on and I was still cold at 70mph.

WindyOne,
You got to get the rest of the heated gear, like the gloves, socks, and pants, then you wouldn't feel the cold.
Did you buy the trike used? I believe some people are not honest enough now days. To save a couple of dollars, they may loose a sale because you didn't trust them. I know if a dealer is shady, I would tell my friends to watch out for them.
Glad to hear the fluids cured your problem.

Installed a SoCalMotoGear LED headlight (less than 1/2 the price of the H-D unit), and a Klock Werks Flare windshield, and Radiantz LED front turn signals

Is this the LED headlight bulb you have? What trike and year does it fit?

Rosy I have the jacket liner and gloves. I wear Merino wool hiker socks and my feet never get cold. I am undecided about pant liners and am thinking about half chaps instead. I usually wear lined jeans and if colder layer base under them. I just don't like bulky feeling when I ride.

You asked about costs at dealers to change fluids. I paid $227 oil and labor yesterday and that was with Red Line fluids which are more expensive.

Yes I bought the trike used with 4822 miles on it.

Kicked it , cussed at it , begged it to start and get me home. (see trike troubles) It must have done some good because it started and got me home. Now Im probably going to have to throw more money at it. (maybe not thanks to the advise from others on here. time will tell.)

Windy One,
If you don't like bulk, but expensive, try the Grebin heated stuff. We have it and love it. As long as the core is warm, the rest of the body will be warmer. We have ours on a potentiometer and this will adjust the amount of heat you get, as like most women are colder than men, so mine is not as high as hers.
tomw, what advise was giving to you about your trike? Glad you made it home!

Knowing how important chrome is to the performance of any H-D motorcycle, I added a chrome oil cooler/regulator cover (Kury # 7784).

It fits my 2012 Triglide, plug and play, quality product.

Nevtat,
Chrome makes your trike go faster because of the slick chrome coating, less air resistance. That's my theory and I am sticking to it! LOL
So, Boo to the naysayers!

What did I do to my trike last week?

:Coffee: I cleaned the fuel system and added some gas stabilizer, checked my battery and made sure it had a battery tender hooked up, Pulled the spark plugs and put some oil on top the pistons and slowly rotated it through a cycle without starting it. pulled off my seats and all the leather, got the tires off the cement and completely wrapped it in soft tarp. oiled all my cables and cleaned electric contacts.

 As a result it hit 50 degrees today without to much wind and people are out riding!

:kpzxvq:And not even one thank you!

Pcome,
Your trike thanks you for all the hard work you have done to put her to sleep.
Oh well, maybe they don't put their trikes/bikes to sleep for the winter. I know some people don't, and are riding when they get a chance. Not me, when the salt goes down, my trike goes up!

Great, if it fits the 12's it should fit my '13. Price is good, much better than me buying another HD LED. I removed the LED headlamp from my 08 softail before I traded it in. That one won't fit in the head light bucket of the 13.
Never would have found this product without your post. Thanks!

I'm old and have old school ways I guess?
Next spring when I get it out I should charge all the ranchers a fee for causing it to rain Huh?

Spent too much time troubleshooting grips and seat heating, changed air filter, installed some led lighting and Baker Trike Wings. Oh, then commuted everyday this week (150 miles round trip) to work in Birmingham. :D

Dawingrider, yes, electrical trouble shooting can be a pain. It seems to take forever to find out what the problem is, that's why shops charge so much to figure out the problem and at $85 per hour, it mounts up fast.
Did you take pictures of your LEDs? If you did, please post.

Thanks

Rosy

Dirtdobber, what bugs? They are all frozen here! LOL
No bugs in NH till spring. If you have bugs, you must be warm! Send some heat to NH!
Trike is hibernating till the Florida run later this winter.

Those LEDs look great. Where did you purchase them, local shop or did you send for them?
As long as the people in cages can see you coming at night, that's great. Makes you more visible!
Thanks for the photos.

Got'em from SuperBrightLEDS. They're the 1/4" square ones. 3 bucks a piece.

Yes, been there and got my LEDs for my trailer. Another place to get small LEDs, which I did to show my push button controls on the handlebars at night was Walmart. Used blue ones so I can see at night. Question, does the newer Goldwings have these push buttons illuminated, my 02 doesn't so they are difficult to see at night?

On my '06, the handlebar controls are illuminated.

The buttons forward of the ignition switch are not illuminated though and I'm gonna fix that. Purchased a warm white LED to somewhat match the factory illumination.

There are more "stuff" on the later model Wings, than the older ones. But, that is expected as the Goldwing advances with new goodies.

You tell E'm drawingrider, some of us are scared of things that go bump in the night!
By the time night comes, I have been riding all day so, the trike is heading for sleep. We go on "tours" during the day and avoid "starburst headlights" at night. It's hell getting old!

I was diagnosed with early stage cataracts a few weeks so now I understand why it appears everyone is driving with their brights on! I have to drive at night so I'll have to have the surgery pretty soon.
