What did you do to Your Tri-Glide Today?

Tonight I put the fairings back on after I attempted to repair the left windshield insert that had broken out of the inner fairing. Unfortunately the plastic had cracked around the old insert and it had pulled out . I’ve screwed in a new one and epoxied around it but hopes are not high that it will hold. For now it’s back together and I’ll ride tomorrow and see if it holds.

I’m also beginning to look for a replacement inner fairing .

Used to have that issue on my 07. The fairing inserts are way better on the newer HD’s

It was a little cold (50's) and we got a bit of rain, but Zion National Park is always Fun!

Yesterday had a really nice 110 mile ride for breakfast and some nice country roads. Some of our favorite roads couldn't be ridden because of all the flooding north of where we live, we saw homes with water still up to the 1sts floor windows and it's been 3 weeks since the last storm came through, really sad.

All serviced for next riding season. cleaned it last week for our Dinner ride with knees & his crew.
hauled the Tri over to my old dealer in Ind to have hydrulic clutch & all brake fluids flushed & serviced.

Jacked the trike up to do some winter cleaning and inspection. I installed the remote oil filter 3 years ago and love it, but, and I can't say this strongly enough, you should inspect the the entire line at least once a year. I didn't like the rubber hose that it came with so upgraded to nylon braided hose.

The 1st year I had it I found the hose frayed just where it bent down to run along the frame. Not a lot but enough to warrant some protection. I wrapped split convoluted tubing over it and ty-rapped it better to the frame. The next year we didn't put the miles on as much as the year before (14k four corner trip) maybe only 5k so just used a mirror and flashlite to inspect it.

End of this year on a trip had the line blow at the exit point over the skid plate where it turns to go to the filter housing. That plate has a very sharp edge which is my fault for not seeing that. Cut right thru the nylon and rubber tubing. Luckily I was looking down at the dash as the idiot lite came on and pulled the clutch in and hit the kill switch. Had I not been looking down I would have been getting a new motor. Had the bike towed to where we were going.

Dealer replaced the lines with just rubber hose and rerouted the hose. I just now replaced it all with SS braided hose and covered it with heat shrink braided tubing to add some extra protection and be less noticeable.. This time routing the hose outside the frame down thru the E-brake assm. and along side the E-brake cable. Eliminating almost anything that the hose can rub on. Also making it much easier to inspect.

Unfortunately I don't think that can be done without adding the 1" floor board spacers that I have on my trike. In hindsight I could have (should have ) glued a slit hose across both ends of the skid plate to eliminate the sharp edge the first time. But I think the new rout might be as good or better. Also (see pic) of where the hose was wearing the wire and case. Eventually would have been another issue. line wear points.jpgline wear8.jpgline wear3.jpgline wear5.jpgline wear7.jpg

I installed the R.J.S. Originals Polished Stainless TriGlide rear wheel disks (I did a video and will provide a YouTube link in another thread)….I also verified the fitment check on a new KlockWerks front fender before sending that off to paint.

Wow...mirror finish is right! I like that it keeps the brake dust off your rear wheels too.
