Way different handling on a trike..!

Fro 35+ years it was (2) wheels. No problem with stability. The gyroscopic effect on (2) wheels meant just a bit of lean got you thru the turn. Owing to cancer treatment in early '15 we had to go to a trike for stability. This '15 Tri Glide is a different handling animal. You can lean all you want BUT, if you don't steer you ain't gonna make the turn!!! I've learned from this forum that a rake will greatly improve steering/turning. QUESTION: why the heck doesn't Harley realize this and make modifications in the first place??!!..jimmer16

Most likely because the Tri-Glide started out as an Electra Glide Ultra Classic (fantastic touring bike) with a trike conversion made by Lehman Trikes of South Dakota. When company owner John Lehman died in January 2012, Harley brought the conversion process in-house at York PA.

But in answer to your question, it's probably not cost effective to rake the basic Ultra at the factory just to enhance the trike conversion. Like most others of us who have had our bikes triked by Hannigan, CSC, Roadsmith, DFT and others, we either end up paying an installer to rake the front end or do it ourselves.

It's well worth the money for the enhanced riding pleasure you get.

The TRI is raked from the factory just not as much as would be done by most conversions. I believe Randy said that the factory rake was less than 3 degrees. Most conversions do 4 to 6 degrees. Most TRI riders live with the factory rake. But I have heard of one or 2 changing the triple trees. Give yourself sometime to get used to it. A trike is a completely different ride and most of us suggest ride 400 to 500 miles before making decisions.

Welcome to TT from WV. Congratulations on your new trike. I was on 2 wheels for 45+ years when I switched to three. Like others, I should have switched sooner. It takes some getting used to, but it is worth it.
