A triker of a different sort

Hi all - I am new to the on-road trike game - but old hat to the off-road trike game.

My name is Tim and I have been into All Terrain Cycles (Honda ATCs) since the early 80s. My wife and myself have collected for years and now own one of each and every model and generation of model that Honda ever produced. believe it or not - the Honda ATC has a huge underground following.

A few weeks ago when my wife out grew her Honda rebel 250 - we looked for something bigger and more powerful for her. Problem is - there is nothing just a little bigger than the rebel - except for the Suzuki c40. We were ready to sign the papers to it when the Lehman Jackal caught our eye. She could ride it by herself with much confidence - and we could ride 2 up for longer trips no problem. Needless to say - it is sitting in our garage right now (Actually sitting at the wife's work :) )

Just wanted to say hi and thanks. I've been searching for a trike forum for awhile now and finally found it.

BTW - is there a Trike guru on here named Rick that works for Dascom???

Welcome Tim and glad you found us!

I love those old ATV three wheelers even though I almost killed myself on one at 14 years old. To be honest Ive never been on one since, though I like looking at them. Congrats on the new Lehman Trike, Im sure you and your wifey are going to enjoy it. Post some pictures on your "Garage" for us to check out.

ATCTim, I'd love to hear what you think of your Jackal. It is JUST what I'm looking at to replace my two-wheeled 14-year-old Suzuki Intruder. My knees aren't what they used to be, so I'm ready to turn triker. Still doing my homework. Your input, and your wife's especially, would be much appreciated!

Hi Juju,

We have only put about 600 miles on our Jackal so far. More than half have been the wife. She really likes it and for a 2 year only veteran on a street bike she is very comfortable on it. It is really easy to ride.

Two things - 1 at first it seemed geared really high - but either we got used to it or the clutch got broken in

2 - get a backrest. we have one ordered right now and it is much needed. It feels really weird for her (or me sometimes) to ride on the back without a back rest.

I recommend the Jackal - but it is really the only on-road trike I have ever ridden. I still have my on road / off road bike - but coming from a sport bike past - I love the transition - super comfy / safe / and wasy to ride.

Go test ride one and see how you like it.

Tim

Thanks for the input, Tim! I'll definitely test ride one before I buy, but it's nice to get some feedback from an actual owner. I'm glad to hear your wife finds it comfy, since the Jackal would be my bike.

The high gearing may be a Suzuki thing, since my Intruder is that way too. I'm so used to it now that I don't notice it any longer.
