I've decided on a VTX1800, based on a little research it seems the only kit with IRS for the VTX is Roadsmith, is that right? Also, a salesman at a Honda dealership told me Honda no longer makes the VTX, yet I see it is still on their website, what gives?

I can't speak for Honda, but the sales people don't always get acurate information. I would beleive Honda's web site before the salesman.

i am not 100% sure but i do beleive dropped the vtx line-----i bought mine new in April of last year already triked from Sunrise Honda in Little Rock---it is a 2007 model--------might check with them i know they had a few left a couple months ago.

Meredog,
Does your Champion have IRS?

No
I have ridden both and persoally prefer the "more sucure" feeling i get with the solid axle.
Thought independent might have given a softer ride but don't think it did.

That said i am sure you can find 1/2 as many people who prefer the indipendent.
didn't notice where you were located but if you are around southern Tx you are welcome to stop in and take her for a ride.

Herb, where in 'southern Texas' are you? :wave4:

The Champion website says they make an IRS kit for the VTX "R"... when I was shopping for one I was told that with a little monkeying around, the kit could be installed on the "C" model as well. Roadsmith also makes a kit, I believe. And,... I believe the VTX line is no longer manufactured. They have a few 1800 VTX "T"s, and VTX 1300 "C"s and "T"s, left over for sale. 'Tis what I've heard anyway. Chumbly-ThumbUp

I would think that since Mother Honda has shut down the motorcycle manufacturing facility in Marysville, OH., the entire line of products that was manufactured there has been discontinued. At least temporarily. That would include the Goldwing and all of the cruiser line. Except the VLX.
That's just my guess.
