Voyager handling problem

I have had my voyager kit for 9 years and never had a handling problem till now at 80 mph the rear of the bike gyrates from side to side the only thing that has been recently done to the bike is a new set of tires which were put on by the dealer.the bike is a 2006 harley davidson softail standard. Thanks for any help you can offer. Sidecarwilly

Put a 2x4 behind the rear wheel and roll the back tire in it. Loosen the rear clamps and relighting them. What happened , is the rear tire is now larger and lifting one wheel off the ground.

This is what the voyager literature says.
1.loosen the 8 1/2' u-bolts and the 2 3/8' suspension lock nuts.
2. remove the 1/2' short shock tower bolts, nuts, washers, spacers completely from top of shock and shock tower.
3. make sure tire pressure is correct on all tires, bike and kit. 20psi in kit tires
4.roll bike rear tire unto 1/4'', 1/2" or even 3/4" piece of wood.
(I used a 5/16" and it seemed to work well) the more pre-load, the less lean you will experience.
5.now tighten the 8 u-bolts to 35 ft. lbs. Then tighten the 2 suspension lock nuts.
6.Re-install short shock tower bolts, washers, spacers and nuts and tighten
7. you are done

What Dennis said + 1. REGULARLY. Mine broke 2 times in 2 years. Finally reinforced all welds, added brackets and gussets. If I can find pictures I will post them . I strongly suggest you do the same.
I went with 3/4 of an inch. If I kept it I would have increased it to an inch.
Please disregard the previous post of driving over a 2x4. Should have been 3/4 board .

Did you ever find the pics? I have a Goldwing with the same issue of going back and forth at 72 mph. I went to 5/16 and still same issue. Which welds break on the pan under the engine?
