Ongoing ride issues with the Voyager kit on my 2001 Yamaha Road Star

The main problem I continue to have with the kit is riding on uneven pavement. Many of our city and area streets and roads are not flat and smooth, they have uneven bumpy pavement, whether asphalt or concrete, and when riding on them bike bounces and rocks side-to-side, which also jerks the handlebars, with the severity depending upon how uneven the pavement.

MTC suggested I lower the tire pressure from 20 lbs to 15 lbs. That didn’t seem to make any difference in how the bike handled. Then I tried changing the preload from the recommended ½ inch setting for my bike to ¾ in preload. None of those adjustments changed the dynamics of how the bike handles. One thing I've noticed in looking at pictures of other bikes (Harley, Goldwing, etc) it appears that the kit tires are in line with the bike's rear wheel. However, on my Yamaha, they do not...the kit tires line up about 4-6 inches behind the rear wheel. However, MTC told me that shouldn't make any difference in how it rides.

Almost thinking of going back to 2 wheels at this point.

Interest'nnn, have, you called the Voyager mfg. company, and ask them about your situation??? I've been told that the kit works quite well, (although I never rode a bike w/ the kit installed ) Maybe another rider with the V kit installed, could give you a better idea..... finger's r 🤞for you, nothing is worse than pay'n big money and still not be'n happy..

Yes, I have talked to them as mentioned in my post when I refer to MTC. Specifically I've talked to Frank a couple of times and got the impression "it is what it is" when riding on rough pavement. Another thing Frank mentioned was possibly a steering damper might help, but when pricing them I found that they can run into a lot of $$ and not sure I can find one specifically to fit my Yamaha Road Star.

So sorry, to read this Don, I too was very disappointed, with my TRIKE builder, claim'n to replace this and that.. BUT I caught him in a lie, and had it all straighten out...........
