i need a little help, i changed the regulator on my 2011 tri after i changed it i was only getting 11.6 volts to the battery i then pulled it back off and pulled off the battery side wire started it up and check the regulator itself and i got 14.7 volts coming out of the regulator but it is not getting to the battery. i am not very smart so why wouldn't the voltage coming out not be getting to the battery?
thanks for any help. trying not to take to the shop

There is a circuit breaker that the wire from the regulator attaches to. Then from the circuit breaker to the battery. If you have an AGM battery, you should charge it thoroughly before performing that test (the one you mention above).

I just had a customer who bought an AGM for his 2004. It wasn't fully charged and when he worked the engine it would kick that breaker off momentarily and display discharge at the voltmeter and the check engine light and gen light would come on. Once the battery was charged, everything was fine.

also along with above mentioned check for crappy connections at that breaker. I have seen the breakers go bad to.

But doesn't that breaker also cause complete shutdown of the bike. (No Power)
