If the computer can combine air , fuel and timing in the right combination, octane won’t matter

Not so sure about that, Rhino. Compression is the great variable. Even if you could get those variables under control of a computer, could an engine run (produce power) with an octane of 50?

Not so sure about that, Rhino. Compression is the great variable. Even if you could get those variables under the control of a computer, could an engine run (produce power) with an octane of 50? I'm not an engineer, maybe you are.

There’s a limit to everything….But hypothetically if only 50 octane were available..Then all compression ratios have to be adjusted to run on it..The model T ran on 50 octane in 1908.

And no I’m not an engineer’ I learned stuff mostly by doing and not making the same mistake twice….
