Trunk Open Monitor

Would really appreciate help with re-establishing the wiring for the Open Trunk Warning. When I bought the new to me Roadsmith trike I didn't know that it even had this feature for the trunk (aka right saddlebag) like it does for the tour pack. But when I opened the trunk I found there was a wire partially soldered (only one of the two twisted wire strands was connected) to a prong on the backside of the latch but the other end of the wire appeared to have been cut and wasn't connected anywhere that I can find. So, I called Mark at Roadsmith for tech assistance and he told me to look for a 2P connector and a wire harness in the right wheel well. I found a wire harness leading to the tail light there, but I could not find a 2P connector nor evidence that one was T-ed into the wiring harness. Not being adept at electrical work or reading wiring schematics I'm at a lost what exactly I need to do. Also, what about the connection of a wire onto the latch? How is this done, one or two wires? Any one with a Roadsmith who could look at theirs and tell me how it is connected would be of tremendous help to me. Thanks!

A lot is going to depend on what your installer did. Mine was not plugged in by the installer and I found the 2P connector up high behind the trunk. Originally it was the connector to the right saddlebag. There should be a mating 2P plug going inside the trunk near the upper middle. Mine was almost impossible to reach and connect but finally I managed to get it done. Has worked fine since.

Since that was supposed to be done at the time of installation maybe the installer could complete the job as required?

The wire is easy to hook up when the install is done and the trunk is off. Not so easy now although it should already be connected to your latch and be accessible by removing the rear wheel to get your head in there with a flash light to see it. Look in your trunk to see where it goes through the trunk and then get inside the wheel well and trace it. it is most likely laying under the tour pack area. nstaller most likely forgot to hook it up. Its easy to so f your not thinking about it.

This is the problem: the wire that once was partially connected (soldered it appears) to a prong on the backside of the latch had been cut off by someone and the end of that wire does not have a connector on it nor does it any longer lead outside the trunk. I can't find where it once exited the trunk and where it was connected to a 2P connector in the wheel well.
