Lehman trunk lid will NOT open

Hi all, newbie here to trike talk as I just got a 2008 Goldwing Trike (Lehman). The big trunk will not open. I found the release cable in the small trunk and used pliars to pull it with no luck. I lifted the seat and found the emergency release cable and when I pulled on it, it broke completely. Does anyone have any tricks on how to get this darn thing open. I don't want to pry it off or break it as there is a mural painted on the trunk. Any help is appreciated. The original owner said it just has the one latch right in the middle but with the one cable not pulling and the other one broke I am stuck. thank-you!

That is a bit of a pickle that your in. I remember seeing threads elsewhere on 2 wheeled models to get into top trunk when keys got locked in, they drilled a small hole behind backrest to be able to see in there.

In your case, I might be inclined to unbolt the top trunk and lean it forward. That would give access to the cables at least. Unfortunately that's about the only advice I have that's not too destructive. A long shot might be cutting an opening in trike body below the upper trunk but I hate to give that kind of advice as I'm not sure it would help. And then you would have to figure out a way to seal that hole back up.
