Tri-Glide Oil Cooler Cover Question

On the Triglide the oil cooler is located right behind the front wheel and I noticed it is getting some abuse from road debris. It looks like a bare radiator. I have called HD and searched the web and no one makes a protector or guard for it. I think it would be simple to fabricate say a chrome outline with perforated metal to let the air to it, but would keep something from flying through it. Does anyon ehave any ideas or places I could turn too? Thanks..

schdtrike, I have had an oil cooler on my touring models for about 8 years here in Florida. They all mount in the location under the regulator mount bolts. I have never an issue with something kicking up and taking it out. Some nicks etc, but it still does the job. But with that said, I mostly ride on paved roads.

I concur with Ultraboy. I have had an oil temp gauge almost as long as I have had an oil cooler. A must have in warm weather. Just remember that around 230 max for conventional oils, and 250 for synthetics. Even on the hottest days, I never get above 230 and I run AIMS OIL synthetic. Ted

Thanks, I will look into getting an oil temp gauge. That air temp guage is useless. I won't worry about the bends etc in the cooler, just was worried it would not work properly.
