I have a 2014 trike and have always changed my own fluids. I was looking in the sevice manual and if you look at tranny oil specs and capacities it says it holds 28 ounces but if you look at the section on changing the tranny oil it says add 32 ounces, which is correct?
I was watching some videos and on the softails people were saying when you check the tranny oil you do not screw the dip stick in only let it rest on the case threads. Once again in the shop manual for the 103 touring models it says to thread the dip stick in until the o ring rests on the case but do not tighten.
Ok, opinions are being sought after. 2014 trike with 103 engine. 28 or 32 ounces in the tranny and checking the fluid, screw the stick in or just set it back in the hole?

The manual for the 2015 Street Glide I did said 28 oz's I normally use 32 in past changes on other HD touring trans.

I recently had that discussion with my dealer about that after they installed my Mechanical reverse , Some of the older manuals will say 32oz..
But the new school of thought from ''Harley'' is 28oz.. And to screw the dipstick in all way, Not just lay it on top to check the level..

No screw on any motor dip stick. The turning motion will give a false reading. Sometimes you just have to stop and think a little bit.

Harley Owners Manuel says to screw in until O ring touchs then remove and check or read level.

Manual says initially add 28 oz. then check dip stick. (32 oz is dry fill).
