After many unusual delays (dealer was having trouble with his diesel pickup), they delivered my 2014 Blackened Cayenne Sunglo Tri Glide yesterday evening. I watched the orientation DVD and then removed the warning stickers from the air cleaner and the mirrors. I then removed the rear shifter lever and used the little chrome spacer I had from a previously owned Ultra.

Today, I took her for her maiden voyage. Since this is my first trike, I went over to the empty parking lot at Rocky Top Sports Center and did three figure eights around two light poles. I parked it in a slot going downhill and tried out the reverse which worked just fine and was easy to use. I then took some scenic back roads over to Sevierville and returned through Pigeon Forge and then on up the spur to Gatlinburg and on home.

Wow is my first impression. What have I been waiting for all these years. The steering and handling felt very natural to me and it was easy to develop a trust in the way it was going to handle the curves. The hardest thing for me to get used to was not putting my feet on the ground at each stop.

The ride totally surprised me. I'd always heard the Tri Glides were rough riders.

My 2014 has a very good ride, plusher than the last Ultra I rode which was a 2012. I also loved the large screen on the GPS/Boombox combo. I could clearly read it even with my sunglasses on. I really like the foot operated emergency brake that works like the one in my truck.

By the time I was coming back on the spur between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, I was feeling quite at home pulling myself through the turns while gently increasing the power. I know I may be a little biased since I just bought it but I'm quite impressed. The size seems just right and that classic Harley sound makes it still seem like a "bad ass" motorcycle.

Tomorrow is the real test. My co-pilot will be riding with me. Wish me luck!

Just about finished with the exact same trike first riding season...I am still Totally Impressed With 2014 Tri Glide Ultra Classic ! Your passenger will love it also! Mine does.

I know you are really liking it in that part of the country...we try to get up there every now and then...I think Harley made large improvements on the 14s and 15s over the 09s through 13...some say they love the ride out of the box...

I came off a 14 Limited a week ago for a 14 TriGlide. Like you, I wondered...Why didn't I do this years ago? I will tell you though, tight turning on ramps to the Interstate where you are trying to accelerate as well are interesting. Can't wait to try it out on 441 or Shady Valley.. SOunds like you are having as much fun as I am !!!

Lots of smiles and miles to you !

Congrats on the new TG! :pepper:

WOW was the first thought on my first TG ride and like you I didn't see many of the things I had read about the TG's.

Have a blast & ride safe!:Trike1:

After ridin 8 Two wheeler's since 1981. This is our 1st Trike. Talk about impressed ! WOW! Only time I took one for a ride was just around the block. Its a little bit of a learning curve. But it's one of the best moves we've made. I've had mine about two weeks now and I still look out at it and shake my head in disbelief ThumbUp Nice job HARLEY !

Congrats on the new ride... Also the Burnt Cayenne is the best color of all those offered ( Biased as mine is that color as well ) lol. Love the handling and comfort offered up by my Tri..as I am sure You will be. My Co-Pilot enjoys the room she has and the comfort as well. Safe riding to You and Yours !

Congratulations on your new ride. You are in a great spot for riding. Maybe get hooked up with Mountain Rider for some rides. RIDE SAFE

YES! I am also totally impressed with how well our Tr-Glide "Roxy" runs and handles. 6500+ miles since June 10th 2014. I'm hating the current cold & wet weather.
