To All Our Vets...

I keep mine locked up in a safe with color copies stored elsewhere. I retired from the service 6 years ago and other than submitting it when I applied for VA compensation, I haven't had to show or use the DD-214. However, I have to show my retired ID card when I go to the Doctor, the Dentist, ask for a military discount, or for base access. So, to me, my most important paper would have to be my retired ID card.

Up here also and I have 3 neighbors that have followed suit even though they are not veterans. Example is a great tool.

I'm a little ambiguous about thank you's.. I Mean i didn't sign up i was US not RA.
I did what i was told to do and came out alive.. And when I came out guys were still being sent over, Years after i came home...:AGGHH::AGGHH:

food for thought

well I may not wear the cap and may not want to tell them about my experience's ,,, I really didn't want to be there-but I went and did what I was told to do. ,,, I went as I am pro usa no matter what- its our country.
for years we were treated poorly and I dealt with that as best I could,,, in more recent years the resentment for that war has faded and I guess I've eased up on my position also if someone hears that I'm a disabled Vietnam vet and say's "welcome home " I just say "thank you"
I assume its heart felt comment and I respect that... and except it for myself and all who served and may have never got to hear it...

I wear my Vietnam vest proudly!
If I get a welcome home, i thank them but tell em I only tell that I only did what true Americans do, serve our country
I can't wear ball caps, got a metal plate in me head.

For all of you Veterans, my Heartfelt
Thanks.
I joined the Air Force in 69. Two weeks from going to Boot Camp I busted my wrist in a touch football game and had to have a bone graft. Nine months and six casts and many wires later the Air Force wouldn't take me.
I was reclassified to 4-F. I drew # 344 in the Draft Lottery.
Evidently it wasn't meant for me to go.
Thanks Again

Heres a thought, me medics, 65 to early 69. Drafted but joined USAF instead, wonder how they let me do that ? Was a cross over for Army chopper school in 68, then they tole me thats an extra 37 months extension, as we were to sign the papers, hahah, yeah right. Still no wings.

It's still a bad taste in my mouth about coming home and getting the crap we got! I've had people come up and thank me only because they do it to the guys coming home now, but don't think they mean it!

I never took it personal, Our government gave us the shaft... Manly The 3 stooges. Johnson, Macmera, Westmoreland.. Not the people protesting.. We had no reason to be there, Not one Vietnamese had any intention of ever coming over here and flying planes into buildings, or blowing things up.. And if anyone believed in the Domino Theory, I have a bridge that i own in Brooklyn they can have for half price..

Thanks

US Navy 65-69. My own little tribute(on my trunk) to all Veterans that have given of their time, and many times the ultimate sacrifice, that we all may live free in this great country.IMG_1102.jpg

Nam Vets

I would like to say "thanks". I will take a Better late than Never (any time)...............

Chu-Lai - Americal Division - 70-71 Army

THANK YOU SULLY !!!! That one tugged at my heat strings a bit......

Sure brings back memories I thought were gone... :( :(

I find that the memories start to fade,
Then something triggers them and they start to bubble up again....:(

Done several runs & Vet events with Warrior's Watch Riders (Veteran myself), but this was the first Honor Flight Escort I've been on, and it was incredible...Philly PD held traffic at the on-ramps of I95 from the De state line to Bensalem, shit-ton of bikes from other groups came along, Philly, Bensalem, and Lower Makefield Motor Units led the line as Air Tac 1 (Philly's chopper) flew (LOW) overhead for the last 3/4's of the ride back, and almost every bridge had Fire trucks with flags hanging, and a HUGE crowd at Casino (in Bensalem) waving flags & applauding

Feels damn good to see so many people showing their old serviceman they are still very much appreciated. Looking forward to next one!

Some pics I grabbed (gopro battery died out 10 miles before endpoint, didn't record the most important part of trip  )
