To All Our Vets...

I am very proud to be a member of the Patriot Guard and participate in many rides, wheather it is KIA, or a vet from a previous war that we are standing the line for,we do it with honor. I am a past military man having served during the Vietnam conflict and was treated poorly when returned home like most.Until recently these people have just started to be recognized as the warriers and heros that they deserve to be recognized as. But now we can only do that at their funerals. The Patriot Guard is honoring all who have searved our country and defended my daily freedoms.

Bustedwing's statement above makes me think back to my military days during Vietnam. I clearly remember being told "NOT" to wear our uniforms when we went out on liberty. They didn't want us to become targets for the protesters and wind up in fights. Yes,, things have finally changed for the better!

I am a PGR member. I had the honour to stand the line last year with South Dakota PGR
Here in Western Australia I am A Patriot supporter. Patriots MC is made up of mostly Vietnam Vets, but also is a club for serving men and women. They are also affiliated with the Disabled Veterans Association-- and try to care and support Vets and military personnel. We also raise money for charity with our rides.
The reason for this story.... is that they have a patch available. It is a unique patch depicting all the services.
If any PGR, Vets etc, would like to purchase the patch, it is $10 [I will pay postage] just PM me.ThumbUp

I had the same experience when I returned from Nam. Happy to see our Vets getting the respect they deserve. I am a member of the PGR unfortunately my work schedule has prevented me from riding so far, but hope to change that in the near future.... Be Safe... Ride Safe...

Today Ruth and I had the privilege of escorting the cremains of 19 veterans to their final resting place in the Sierra Vista, Az. National cemetary. Approx. 150 bikes proceeded to do an escort from Tucson to Sierra Vista for a very touching ceremony. If you have never heard of the MIAP, they are a group dedicated to locating the remains of veterans that have been sitting on shelves in mortuarys for years. Through new means of testing they are able to identify vets remains that have never been claimed. Some were from WWll, and others from Korea, Viet Nam and also the cold war. This is a national group. Look them up on the internet for more info. Thanks

That sounds like a wonderful project to be a part of! Thank you for sharing.

If there was a group in my area I'd join as well. I'm a current member of the Patriot Guard Riders and soon to also join the Legion Riders.

As a Patriot Guard Rider, I understand the mission you participated in. That you for your dedication. God bless those who honor our heros.

My wife and I are also PGR members and American Legion riders. In fact we just got home from an ALR meeting.

Many of the WWll vets have now outlived any of the family that they had, so there is no one to claim them.

In fact we just buried, last week, an 88 year old veteran. His wife is 95 and had polio as a child. She is on crutches and took care of him for the last 7 or 8 years. He had Alzheimers and Cancer. They never had any children. She had very little money and the mortuary would not release the body unless it was paid in full. He passed July 31 and was just buried last week. Luckily she was cancelling his car insurance and the woman she talked to, her husband is a veterans advocate here in town. He got it taken care of. He had a nice funeral. She was there and 2 neighbors also and about 30 PGR members in the rain.

These are stories that a lot don't here about.

Hi Trikers

Tomorrow I am taking part in my first big group ride. It is in aid of The Royal British Legion (our UK Veterans organisation). It will also be my longest ride so far on the Grinnall at about 200miles. The weather is dry but very cold at about 39f and trees are beautiful in their autumn colours. One of the towns we will visit is Whitehaven, the only town on British soil to have been attacked by the Americans during the unfortunate colonial disagreement of 1666. John Paul Jones was born in Whitehaven and led the raid. He really must have had unresolved childhood issues!! I hope to have some photos to post but if you wasnt to see the route have a look here.

I really enjoy group riding as its a great opportunity to meet other bikers and Trikers.

Brrrrr....39º! But what a great ride opportunity! The veterans organizations are such important groups. Have a wonderful time, and be safe :D.

It was a beautiful if cold autumn day, clear as crystal. On the way up the coast road we could see the Isle of Man clearly to our left and the Lakeland fells to our right. Despite the cold lots of people turned out to meet us at the stops including town mayors. In Workington an honour guard of cadets applauded us through the streets. The trike attracted lots on interest and I managed to persuade lots of them to donate as well.

After Workington I left the pack to come home through the central lakes Keswick and Ambleside. Altogether about 160miles but my the wind chill was fierce!

This morning I have aches in places where I had forgotten I HAD places lol but but buzzing with the sheer joy of riding.

I don't know yet what the ride raised but I raised about 50 quid myself just by telling people about the trike and extracting a fiver donation from them.

Yesterday Nov the 30th the wooding wall of honor was delivered to Enid OK. Enid had purchase the wall through different fund raisers. The Wall now has a permanent home. The was escorted from Sand Springs to Enid by over 350 riders from deferent groups around Oklahoma "WELCOME HOME VIETNAM VETERANS" ! Ride along with us as we make the 138 mile ride.
