The healing begins

Keep your chin up, I know you are really set on getting Joy back which is good, but if it doesn't work out at a reasonable price their are other ones out there. I wish you luck.

Last I heard you were looking at a donor bike and we steered toward repo and stolen bikes recovery, what did you come up with for the $5000.00 ins. check?

I had to pay off my credit card with my repair money. the auctions won't take credit cards only wire transfers.

my new plans is to just buy the parts I need to repair her. I should actually spend the same amount of money or less.

JOY WILL LIVE AGAIN.ThumbUp

I discovered some very good things. her front forks are not bent, her motor turns free and should be undamaged other than the cylinder head.

I'm going to start ordering parts very soon, if it was not for the cast on my arm I could have her running in a month or less. :gah:

good for you, Have you ever practiced on things with a fiberglass repair kit?
just sayin?

no but good idea I'm going to have to learn.

going cross eyed looking up parts:gah:

it looks like I'll actually save money? :xzqxz:

the thing with the fiberglass is I'm going to have to build a form and it will be hard to vacuum cure it.

To bad you cant find one to turn over and mold the inside. You could actually use the other undamaged side for quite a bit of the molding process. One set in place under the bad part of your trike body it can then be built up from the outside, Myself, I would give it a shot. Fiberglass resin is amazing stuff.

boat shop is a good idea but not feasible, i just can't afford it. if i could i would just call leon at DFT and buy new fenders for $1400

I'm going to have to start buying parts very soon.

The body is one molded unit. Have you checked with Leon about buying only the fenders. I would be surprised if you could but even then you would have to find a way to attach them.

no I think the body is molded and yes it is one piece. I am currently think of how to support the damage with say metal strips and bolts. then use them as is until I can get repaired.

I get my cast off Monday and then something else put on that's 8 weeks so far. more to come.:gah: they still have to operate to take out the pins then more cast. :gah: it's goig to take forever to rehab my poor hand.

I started ordering parts JOY will be well before I am.

I am going to have a pink trike or at least pink parts on her. I found these unpainted lower cowl parts. I'm bought the right one and have now decided to buy the left one as well. these parts will get painted pink if I have to do it with a spray can. JOY will sport PINK PARTS. she is a girl after all and needs to be dressed appropriately. I will also try to paint some of the black parts pink as well. I have the e-bay parts and have placed my parts order with MRcycles all parts have been ordered. JOY will be repaired before my hand is able to drive. yea I know they are just white.

WE have done a test paint.

there are 2 colors on this piece, I like the darker color as I think it will be seen better. I also think the light color is very cute and would be nice if both were blended on different parts.

the front of my trike is going to be pink. the trunk not yet, the fenders not yet

please let me know which color you like, the darker pink or the light pink.

Gotta say, Triwinggirl that two tone looks pretty sharp. But if I were to pick just one color , I think you are right about the darker Pink being the one. Just my two cents.

If you are sticking to one color, I'll also enter my vote for the darker pink. Although, a fade from dark to light would be interesting, maybe dark at the front of the trike fading to a light pink to a white rear end. My 2¢, and I'll take my penny change.

HI everyone;

I decided when I paint the body the top and side cowls will be hot pink. the grey parts dash lower cowl and the front cover piece will be light pink.
the insert piece over the radiator will be light pink. so I will use both and adapt as necessary. ThumbUp

here's a picture of the new plastic I got. I still need front fenders some day. there are a few more piece I have that will also get painted. need paint.

oh yea update on my not broken, broken finger. it's in a splint now and it has not healed one bit. it in a splint so I can use a bone stimulator that medi-care says I can't have till next month. I'm so thrilled I have my very own $#@%^&#$^# medical regulation that only makes me suffer longer now. I remember when we got what we needed when the doctor prescribed it not when the insurance company says ok. aaaahhhhh :AGGHH: ^$$@^@&@&@&% my finger will never bend again.

the rest of the mechanical Honda parts be here Thursday.

I will post pic of the rebuild as it goes, I will try to group them together. I should add I'm mostly healed now except for my finger and feeling much better.

I found this little surprise this morning when I was disassembling JOY.

Re: The healing begins/ the motor is intact

:pepper::pepper::pepper: YYYEEEEEE HHHHHAAAAA

THE MOTOR IS INTACT

we got the cylinder head off and the pistons and motor are intact and sound. I am so lucky.

JOY WILL BE HEALED AND RUN AGAIN :pepper::pepper::pepper:

I got the last parts needed to install the new head. things should progress quickly now, the mechanical and frame assembly should be done soon.

'Wings are hard to kill! We're watching and cheering the rebuild. Glad it's no worse than it is. Best of luck in getting Joy back on the road.

:pepper::pepper: MY FINGER IS SHOWING HEALING :pepper:

I just got back from doctors office and it's not much but it is showing healing. the bone stimulator is working.

my helpers are currently unavailable and I have all the parts now.:xzqxz:

I guess I'm going to have to risk hurting my finger and do it my self? good thing I have better use of my hand now and a glove that will cover it. I will keep yu all updated I'm glad to know I have people cheering for me. THANK YOU

we will be back as there is a light at the end of the tunnel now.

DAY 1 REASSEMBLY

we got the cam chain and tensioner replaced and back together. also the spark plug wires replaced.

good progress for 100 degrees and 60% humidity.

tomorrow the cylinder head

DAY 2

we got the cylinder head on and timed new plugs and a new foot peg. as well as the new covers.

yes it's going slow I'm 1 borrowing time from my help and it's hot and wet here. better slow that messed up.

0807141134a.jpg0807141134.jpg

I am writing today to specifically ask for help.

my helpers are otherwise occupied with other things so I'm not able to get anything done. my finger is still broken and I can barley use my hand. I certainly am not able to do assembly by myself yet. it is not worth reinjuring my finger. however I do need to get on with the reassembly.

so I'm looking for anyone with mechanic abilities in the las vegas Nevada areas to help me with reassembly. I have all parts and tools. we are ready to start bolting parts back on, the engine is assembled. next thing is the exhaust, then the radiators and so on.

I can not pay for help I need volunteers. would love to meet a nice single guy if possible.

DAY 3

progress we have turned the motor and double checked the timing. the motor is sound and buttoned up. the tank, air box, intake, exhaust, computer stay are installed. the radiators are ready to go and will be installed this weekend, as well as the main stay. once the main stay is on and the wiring hooked up it's just a matter of body work.

:pepper: MAKING PROGRESS :pepper:

we have begun painting and have painted the lower parts and grey parts. the main lower side cowl is berry pink. the side lovers are light pink. all the grey parts are light pink, as well as the front inside cover above the lower cowl. the dash has a chrome piece on it is still chrome but the dash is light pink, inside the gauge holes was left grey.

DAY 4

the left side is finished except for the driving light. I'm duplicating the spacers that were lost on the right side.

0816141051.jpg

hi everyone I would like to tell you JOY Is finished. unfortunately I can't do that. I have run out of money and I need oil, anti freeze, and a battery.

also my helpers vehicle broke down and we are unable to finish anything as I have no help at all now. my other helper went on labor day vacation.

she is however at a point were just a few more parts on the right side and it's time for her skin to go back on. the painting is not finished as my helper can't get here

thank you all for your best wishes but fate got me and hit the brakes hard. don't know what going to happen now completely out of my control.

yes my birthday is Monday and I'm sick and stuck with no way to finish as I can not paint with my left hand.

yes I said sick as in unwell not up to par on antibiotics.

I HATE AUGUST AND MY BIRTHDAY ALWAYS THE WORST DAY OF THE YEAR.

AGAIN IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP ME FINISH HER YOUR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED IT MOSTLY PAINTING NOW

I ALSO STILL HAVE TO FIX THE FENDERS
