Starting my 3.8 v6 Super Charged Trike Build

well did a little work on shock mounts and fork brace,,,
1.&2. show the upper mount with metal work done
3. shows fork brace tacked in place with the 12 bolt holes drilled and tapped
4. just gives you a little better look at how it all looks
5. shows the line that I will cut so that legs can be removed one at a time if needed- I made a 4130 moly sleeve that fits over the joint, 12 allen head bolts hold it in place... welding is now finished did it this morning-will reassemble front end and take a few more pics. tomorrow

nice job on leading forks. May i ask what deg did you weld the neck at...I read the thread but missed the neck degs .. Im just now converting my junk over to leading link.. I still get confused with rake and trail.. :confused:thanks butch
neck is about 38 degree, trail is 2.5 -3.5 can be adjusted by changing pivot locating holes- if you look at one of the pics that show brake caliper you will see one of the 5/8 holes (I didn't add bushings to extra holes :D) peeking out

yes I agree with you both...
my thinking was the room in front of passenger seat would make it easier to get seated(no need to hike leg up and over seat).. would think that passenger would stretch out, use foot pegs or what ever once seated...
in my case I'm not sure how wife knees will be down the road...
what I know for sure is that spacing is shrinking as we talk:)

project is coming along nicely.

well front end work is about done- air lines and brake line need to be finished up..

thanks my friend!!
semi gloss black cleaned it up I will repaint or black oxide front end down the road but semi gloss black will probably stay on trike unless we see some color we like better !!
we have a 1954 ford panel truck I customized back in 1978or9 it has been two or three color but semi gloss black has been on it for last25 years:D
guess I like that color...

working on brake line for front brake
starting off with left side brake only,, if I'm not happy with one I will machine other side of wheel to except rotor- its just time consuming and a little complicated,, my buddy T-bone @ bike-shop told me yesterday "well you keep talking about you may as well do it" guess we will see anyway heres what I've come up with looks like I got to build my own lines!!
1. a piece of line cut then pushed through nut
2. ferrell pushed in-between ss steel braid and liner.
3. special banjo fitting that has sleeve on end that pushes into liner.
4.nut being tightened up to complete fitting
5.banjo fitting ans crush washers going on caliper
6.what finished brake line installation looks like.
hope this was not to boring but its part of the process....

also it would be nice if description could be - beside each pic is this something that can be done ???

I ordered the steel for handlebars as well as all material that I was short to complete brakes front and rear... ordered a few led lights to get tail/brake turn sig. done... trying to find road glide fairing that I can afford- not easy they are a hot item! need to come up with a temporary head light to get this thing inspecting by state guess I need to talk to my buddy 2 bike shop again!!~!

well I decided to add second brake rotor to front wheel- this is going to be heavier than my side car rig and I use front brake all the time on it ,,,,sure I will on this trike also so can't have to much brake!!
I will start building the insert/adaptor for the side of wheel that had the belt pulley and rubber compensator ??? not sure what they called it??? it will house another bearing to keep things aligned for this process and have a lip that aligns/centers the rotor,,, the adaptor will bolt to wheel and the hub cap that I already made- the hub cap will center up on the lip that aligned rotor also- the hubcap mounting bolts will/should add to strength of set-up :xzqxz:
well that's my story we will see how it goes!!!
got all material for brake lines for front wheel $230 bucks and change!! its the small stuff that adds up , also got a inner 2013 road glide fairing coming so I can get to work on that tooo!!! I am thinking at this time that i will use a single headlight outer fairing I got time to think about that-while I do brakes and handle bars and shift linkage and and and :D
oh yea
I will post a few pics as this right side brake as it comes along and it will come along!! just maybe not fast I think it shoud !!

ok I have been away from shop for a couple wks. so this morning I worked on front wheel
1. trim .200 off hub
2. trim .050 off fingers so the .050 step I put on back of hubcap will fit tightly again.
3.trim end of fingers off and true up inner hug area where my hub to brake rotor adapter will go:xzqxz:..
4. just a little closer shot of area.
so hopefully I have time over the next couple of days to make the adapter and install it in wheel!!
my fairing showed up-more work!!
so more later!!

well fuzzy if you remember back it always had a hubcap-made it when I went to this wheel had to have something to cover the fingers that I didn't need :D!!
so just need to open up center to 3.900" and its a done deal!!
magoo

ok wheel is ready to get tire mounted again !!!
here's what I did to get it finished up!!
1. rotor adaptor installed
2.the hubcap modified to fit new setup!
3.hers a look at it now did have to go to counter sunk 1/4 bolts for this application.
4.rotor installed I machined center so that I have 1/16 space between back of rotor and face of hubcap.
5. this is what it was all about!!
glad my buddy T-bone @ bonified cycle shamed me into figuring this out many of you guys out there have talked about wider wheel & tire on front well it can be done on a budget... used wheel and tire and and a few bucks for supplies,,,,,,some shop time and I am on my way!!

well been caught up in life,,,
just got new wheel spacers (4130 steel) made and wheel back on trike front end
think i'll have to call this a success, time to move on!!
I will add caliper mount to right side of link/rocker next, also have new 25mm chrome plated axle material so will make final change there
1&2. shows the new rotor
3. shows the existing factory installed rotor.
I am also excited to get my fairing mounts made and fairing mocked up should give us an idea as to what front end will look like and one steep closer to getting title work done- got to have lights installed and working .

well a couple pics. of fairing,,,
I think it needs to be a little lower 2-4 inch closer to front tire ???
I'm about through messing with front end think I'm going to concentrate on wiring- get lights on it and get this thing started up,,,, and titled:D

I agree with you both!!
just getting ant-z want to hear some noise out of this motor!! maybe move the trike my other shop more room to work on body- less priceless junk !!
what's left to do on front end is minor so guess
i'll get er done!!!
magoo

ok I think the fairing is look'n better!!
1. is before and 2. is after if you look at fork tube brace you can see the change
3. before and 2. is after- bottom of fairing just over shock mount- way cleaner look to me but my eyes are as old as me:xzqxz:,,,,:D
