My cousin and I At the lost river drive in at Arco, Idaho 2012, He still rides his old 1986 Yamaha Venture Royal/ Craters of the moon Nat. monument on my old 1989 tour Glide ultra.
Front end finished, this will have proven to be the most difficult part of the conversion, It actually took me longer to accomplish than the rear end.- preparing to Take down the rear end of bike to begin trike conversion.
I don't have any fancy bike lifts, just gotta do it the old fashioned way. Jack stands and chain hoist. Allot of laying on the floor and stooping over on wheeled stools.
Very glad I have a chain hoist, air tools to save time and a torch, plasma cutter and wire feed welders.
Wheel off the ground so I can disassemble and mark wiring, exhaust removal.
Just gotta remove my rear fender so I can get to the swing arm for removal.
My Champion straight axle kit finally arrives, Christmas in may!
What a wiring nightmare! I loved every second of bleeding hands! I took lots of pictures of the wiring inside of the console to help me remember how it all went back together.
Installation of Champion swing arm and solid rear axle.
Utilizing floor jacks with assembly.
loosely bolting up the trike body frame and getting everything squared up and level so I can do a precise placement of the frame welded bracket to support the trike frame.
frame completed and stock air shocks re-installed. Still have chain hoist attached for safety. It's still on jack stands and I may get a little muscle involved.
It is back on its wheels and ready for test rides, after which I will re-torque all bolts and check axle alignment, belt tension, and wheel torque.
Final product.
