Seen these on the Harley accessory site and just a little baffled as to what they do. There suppose to keep mud, rain and wind off your legs I guess. Has anyone tried them for $89!

I had a buddy that had a pair to use on his E-Glide. We were on a cold ride to Duluth, Minn, when all of a sudden Joe was off in road and in the gravel on the shoulder. I watched him get that bike hauled down to a stop-he did a great job!. He told us that the wind caught those elephant ears and ran him off the road. We kind of think the partying the night before had more to do with it...

I have been using them for 8 years now.

Don't really like the look of hard lowers. So I use the soft lowers when it is cold, or when it is raining hard.

When not in use they roll up and store easily. They take 3-4 minutes to install or remove.

I have been happy with them.

I had them when I had my 08 EG. Put them on when it's cold and remove them when it's warm. Only takes a couple minutes. They worked great for me. Gave them to my son when I got the Tri Glide with hard lowers. I had originally thought about getting the quick disconnect kit for the hard lowers when I got the Tri Glide so I could take them off in the summer but as of now 2 1/2 years later it still hasn't got any farther than the thinking stage, LOL. But then I haven't seen a need to remove them.
But the soft lowers worked great for me.

Check out ebay. There are some "elephant ears" on there new for about $50.00. I got some from a person in canada about 5 years ago. I believe it is the same as on ebay now (there is a link to a Youtube video for Primitive Leather. I googled it and found a phone number) good quality marine grade vinyl, has held up very well. I called to ask a question, and during the conversation he asked If I wanted pockets, as I had not ordered them. I said sure, and right on the phone I heard some rustling and then a sewing machine. He added the pockets as we were talking. Nice to have the owner/maker answer his own phone and got them in about 2 weeks.
Anyhow, you don't have to spend the big bucks to get a quality product that works, especially one that is used realatively infrequently.

Bought the HD nylon elephant ears last year for the Ultra Classic trike conversion. Best thing ever to extend riding season - easy on and easy off.

...............think the partying the night before had more to do with it...

I'm going to agree with the partying theory. Have run soft lowers for 10-15 years, in the windy part of the country, and have NEVER heard anything like that happening. Partying, lack of sleep or both.

Only thing you have try and avoid is using them in warm temperatures. They do not have the aerodynamics to funnel air across your cylinders.
