saddle bag installation

My wife and I want to get the saddle bags for our 2014 trike. Has anyone here installed them and if so what is the difficulty rage on this project. I like doing as much as possible myself.

Also there is another system you can use for the mounting. Also there is an alternative bag these people have. I don't know if Harley has upgraded the hinge on theirs. There was a problem with it as a weak point.

I have them on my TRI and I installed them myself. They were not very hard at all to do. I use them alot.

I've seriously been considering these. We don't "need" them, but it sure seems like it would be really nice for Mary to have some extra room back there. Right now she just has what she can stuff into my backrest pocket and her jacket pockets.

Two questions for those who have them-

Do they ever get in the passengers way when mounting, dismounting or riding?

It seems you need to remover them in order to remove the side panels, if this is the case, how difficult is this?

I had the H-D's on my 11 trike & I have them on my 14. I installed myself, & like someone said measure twice & drill once. I find them to be very convenient for small items. I have had different passengers on the back & none of them had any complaints with getting on or off the trike. Kevin, you do have to remove them to get the side covers off, but it's just one turn pin & it's easy to do.

i have installed them on my 13 tri used templates they do not get in the way of the passenger and are very easy to remove, we have used them a lot with no lid problems but they are not watertight .

Had the mini-saddlebags on my '09 TG and now on the '13 TG.....do not get in the way of passenger legs and easy on-off for accessing the side panels. Don't know about water-tight, but do know water bottles, gum, sunglasses, rags, pens, pencils, note paper, cigarettes, camera fit nicely in the pockets...yes, Mary would love to have a set. Get from HD and read the instructions and use templates.....if you recall, one of the forum members had HD install them and were crooked (thinking it was Gary D, maybe not).

I had mine put on by the dealer and they were crooked. one of these day I'm going to get the kit from SEE THROUGH BRAZ , and put them on there straight.

Kevin they don't get in the way of the passenger & you don't need to remove them to get the side covers off. I've never had them off but really like them & when I sell this bike I can take them off & re use them on the next bike with no damage to the one & trading off.

As others have said, pretty easy install. I used some wide blue tape and marked it out, then checked and double checked measurements to be sure before punching any holes through the fiberglass.

They are handy, I think passengers appreciate them; place for a waterbottle and whatever if other accessories for those things aren't already installed.

No reported troubles with passenger getting on and off or being in the way.

Very easy to remove, one lock pin to rotate and then lift up and off lower mount.

Cons-no security, not alot of cubic inches of storage for the money, not water tight. Haven't looked at other products, the Harley ones were all there was when we did our install.

Kevin, After you install these you will have a new project. I have had a few ideas for a locking pin to secure these to prevent "unwanted" removal or possibly opening. I know a few guys have missed drilled or wanted to remove, I started to make a decorative plate to cover holes. I would take saddlebags over speakers.

The little bags are for convenience for the passenger and rider to carry stuff. They do not have to get off the trike to get little stuff. These bags are applied with No Holes Kit and are positioned on the inner rear fenders. They are for the Triglide and Freewheeler.

At present I have not heard of any issues with passenger having problems getting on and off the trike with the bags. You will need to remove the bags to get to the side covers. Bag removal is easy. You just grab the bag either on the top or bottom and pull away from the trike. Putting bags on is just the reverse of putting on. You line the bags up on the inner fender and push on. If it is not straight, just remove bag and reapply.

If you have any additional concerns give me a jingle.

I put the HD bags on my 12MY triglide in 2013 using the Seethroughbraz mounting kit. Still as secure as the day I installed them. Handy bags for sunglasses, bottled water, etc. Wife has no issues getting on and off the trike with the bags in place.

I've had the Seethroughbras & mounting kit on my 2014 TG for 2 years. They have never come off & are very handy. I can get both side covers off & on with out removing the bags if I place them slightly closer to the inside edge of the fender. Also no problems with passengers getting on & off.
