Retirement

Congrats on the retirement. I have just passed six years being retired and have not missed work. The people at work are whom you will miss, but there are those special few who will always be around that you will do things with.

As someone said, keeping busy is big factor and I'd think most folks have no problem with that. As some of the guys who retired before me always said, "I am not sure how I ever had time to go to work." And there are those days I ask my self, "where did the time go?"

So stay healthy, ride, ride some more, keep busy, and enjoy life to its fullest.

Congratulations! Go for it, you will not regret it.

I pulled the pin 3 years ago, after working a year longer than I was required to because of "apprehension". After 35 years on the job it was the best decision I ever made! As others have said, it took me about 6 months or so to get over the guilty feeling of not working, even though I still work part time, very part time, during the winter. But, I did get over it, as you will. I also agree with another poster that wow, does the time just fly by. I am never bored, as I have a lot of interests and hobbies. I hunt and fish more now than I have ever been able to do in the past, I have time to ride, read, reload, play on forums like this, and, if I want, just sit down and watch a movie, in the afternoon on a Tuesday. Can you believe that?

Life is short, if you can, get out of the grind and enjoy it, you won't be sorry.

I retired 12 years ago. It is a great job to have. :) Just went for a breakfast ride this morning about 130 miles. Got back about and hour ago. The weather is beautiful today. I haven't decided yet what to do in the afternoon, maybe a nap.sleep :):wave4:pepper:D

Turned 65 May 2007 and sold my pizza company and retired.
I do miss the people contact but I can handle that.
Did go to McD's for breakfast every am for the last couple of years but that got old.
Always find something to do, ride, ride, ride pepper

I retired Feb 2000,traveled every where we wanted & still do,however the greatest thing for me is to be able to say (today I'll do what I want to do)

We have a young friend who always celebrates Fridays on Facebook. Using him as a guage, find the weeks just fly by. Better find a demanding job to slow the clock down. NOT!

Congratulations, Rod. I retired 2 yrs ago and have never looked back. I don't miss the work, just the guys I worked with. I go meet them for lunch every cpl of weeks just to keep in touch and tease em a bit. Sue has 15 more days to go. She will vacation the rest of March then retire April 1.She is ready after 34 years in the same job. We did all our home improvements last year and our ducks are all lined up, so we are outta here as soon as the weather cooperates. Hope to see a few of you fine folks out on the road.

Now for the obvious question; why are you up at 4:00AM if you are retired? Lol

I went to college at Morehead. Great school with some neat profs; and that was nearly fifty years ago. Great area to ride in.

Retirement really is MUCH better than having to work every day. I retired August 2012 after 24 years in auto body repair business. Selling my stock in the company gave us enough that we will be comfortable for many years to come.
Don't know about getting bored yet...we bought a lake cabin in east Texas the month I retired and a couple of months later bought a house in east Texas so we have been "in the process of moving" for several months. I hope we get finished soon.
The property has a 700 sq ft shop for me to tinker in as well as 1.6 acres for my wife to plant her flowers and small garden. But the best thing of all is there are MANY very good roads for riding.....just have to go to the end of my driveway to start.
And in the small town of Pittsburg, the Lt Trike gets many heads turning.

My wife just informed me that it's now OK for me to retire. pepperpepperpepper H-D stock is increasing their dividend from .15 cents to .21 cents, payable in March. With a whopping 10 shares, we'll clear over $2.00!!!

Wait, you don't suppose she was kidding do you?? Guess I still have 4 more years.:gah:
