I'm starting this new thread on reduced reach handlebars for the Tri Glide. The handlebars will fit other cruisers and touring bikes.
One reason I decided to go with the reduced reach is because I have really bad neck muscles. I've realized that reaching for the handlebars have cause the muscles tighten up and now has cause rotation of my head to be reduced. I'm currently going to physical therapy and it has helped tremendously. It's going to take some time to get those muscles loose again.
When I finally decided to spend the money, the question was my dealer or another installer. I decided to get a quote from my dealer, the dealer I've bought 2 bikes from and also their service agreement. When I ask what the labor would be, their answer was 10 hours. With hourly rate of $88.50, it was easy to come up with the labor charge. I already knew what the parts would cost.
With that, I went to a a different dealer for the heck of it. First, their hourly rate is $82 and hour and the quote was $410 labor. That was easy to figure, 5 hours of work. I knew there was a chance the clutch cable would need changing and gave them authorization to do that with a braided cable. When I picked up the bike, it was very clean and looked great. Total cost $639. This as you can see was much less that what my dealer would have charged.
The only other thing I had to do was put my OEM seat back on. The bucket seat sat too low. I'm thrilled to death with this and I have a new dealer.
