Need some help. Haven't had any issues till today when we went for a short 250 mile ride. My temperature gauge began showing hot so I pulled off the road. Checked the appropriate fuses under the seat and obviously all fluids. All is fine with both. Broke out the owners manual and it shows a fuse in the power distribution box under the air filter. So, I took off the cover to the box and discovered that the picture of the fuse layout is not what's in the box. According to the book # 43 fuse is the temperature sensor and other valve control fuse.

Any suggestions?????

There is a sensor located on one of the large water lines inside the RIGHT wheel well. To troubleshoot it, pull the blue wire off the sensor and turn on power and ground out the wire. If fan comes on, you have a bad sensor. Turn on your a/c and fan should run all the time even with a bad sensor.

Just a question for you, did your cruise control work when your Stallion had the overheating problem? I had a little trouble with mine the other day. When I started my Stallion the shifter would not let me put the transmission in drive. I raised the hood and pushed the pin and released the shifter and took off down the road. After a little while I noticed the cruise was not working and a short time after that it started to over heat.

Joe, don't forget to post the info for the place you ordered the part and part numbers !! Also did you speak with anyone to ask if there is a lower temp that can be ordered??

The company is Old Car Products (Hurricane). The part that failed is the Temperature sensor switch part # 24-0098 cost $22.95. I ordered 2. Phone # is 817-531-2665

Either the first or second owner of the Stallion I purchased installed a switch that turned the cooling fan on. Seems there's a problem with the temperature sensor? I believe the switch grounds out the sensor which turns the fan on. It's located under the front seat. I usually keep it on all the time during city driving or when using the A/C.

Try contacting Paul Kates in Delaware: 302-312-9611 or 302-322-6401. He can probably provide more information. Won't have the Stallion back until this afternoon or I would take a look.

photo (26).JPGI installed a manual switch as plan B just in case it happens again.

Talk about fast delivery! I ordered the sensor on Thursday and received it Monday morning. Installed it, and it seems to be working just fine. Thanks everyone.:pepper:

That should take care of the overheating/fan not kicking in. I added the manual switch, but still keep an eye on the temp gauge and "test" the switch periodically to make sure it is active, in case you ever need to use it.

Sorry that I didn't respond earlier to your post, but the key to a good working temperature sensor seems to be, not installing it too tightly. Had two temperature sensors fail on me. The third, I installed myself. It's been working fine, now over two years since installation. I did use teflon tape on the sensors threads as a precaution, however.

Hey Dean H. Good idea on installing a bypass switch!!!

overheating....

Wife and I off for the weekend and she noticed the trike was overheating...I checked the fuses under the seat and all were fine and as said in the previous thread the schematic did not match the box.....anyway...we towed it home and I noticed this thread and thought an easy fix...well I grounded out the sensor wire and the fan did not come on when I turned the a/c on...there was power to the sensor.....I also noticed that the clutch on the a/c did not engage and the check engine light came on. Is there plug to check engine diagnostics and to reset the engine light? Is the a/c required for the radiator fan to come on? Any idea where I could find a correct drawing for the powere distribution box? She loves her ride and I would love to get it trouble free if possible. Thanks guys for any help you can give....

Please read the whole post and follow the link to the previously discussed repairs for the situation. The next place to check is going to be the fan power relay. Depending on the year of your Stallion it can be tied to the cross member under the seat for later located to the Power distribution box.

Thanks for the reply....my Stallion is a 2013 and the power dist box is not marked correctly and I don't have the slightest idea which relay is which...and also wondering where the OBD connection might be...I did read the whole post and tried everything I could with no luck:(

Sorry, I didn't follow to page two of the posts..I just have to figure out now where the fan power relay is...thanks

Just ordered 2 for myself. There are 2 different temps you can choose from. #24-0098 is from 205/on to 195/off and #24-0099 is 190/on to 173/off. I was told you can tell which is which by the color on top, either red or black. I've had both fail on me in the past so I just ordered 2 of the lower temp. There is a $8 and up for shipping depending on how fast you want it.
