I have no idea why this thought came to me this morning, but I remember a previous post where someone was having issues with the wiring in upper trunk on their GL1800 breaking at the bending point due the constant opening and closing over the years. (not sure if it was just the insulation cracking causing wires to short out with each other or completely breaking) And no, I'm not having any problems and hope never to have this issue.

Have any of you heard of this? If so, are there any preventative measures one can take? Just curious.

I just finished fixing several broken wires on a friend's GL1800 exactly as you described. The wires actually were broken - not the insulation. He had lost right rear speaker was the initial issue. Some of the wires I found must have had to do with the remote trunk lid lock/unlock All total I had to fix five wires.

I have never heard of anyone else having that problem nor a proposed fix. It's no big deal to fix. Just a pain in the butt when something stops working.
