I have a power commander V and auto tune module, but bike still seems to be running hot. I have v&h powerduals and Arlen ness big sucker also.
What should the fuel air ratio be?
How do I know it is working properly
On a ride today, mostly open road oil temp was 250 -270
Outdoor air was 90
Does that seem warm?

Well, now that you mention it...
90 is pretty warm for May in Indiana!

Hi did you put a basic start map into the PCV to have a starting point? You should of loaded a map frpm PC that is used with the setup that you have. That gives the auto tune a spot to start from. Those oil temps are to hot for open road IMO.

Rumble, The oil temps you mentioned are directly related to how fast you were driving. More speed equals higher oil and head temperatures.

Of course, the higher cooling air temp has a lot of effect, but not as much as vehicle speed.

And you want your oil temp to reach a minimum of 160 F to keep from building up condensation in your oil that will speed wear a lot. 'Member, short trips are bad news on any engine?

PC

Yes I loaded a map from pc. Just not sure how to go about checking to make sure everything is working correctly.
The riding was 2 up on open country roads about 60 mph around 90 degrees outside air temp.
What are others seeing as normal oil temps in those conditions?

Unless I'm mistaken, you must use a computer to take the "learned" values and import these changes into the calibration on the PCV.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but the auto tune doesn't automatically override the main calibration. This is the way most auto tunes work, maybe not for the PCV.

That is how I understand it to work also.
