Will the ones they advertise for 2010 to 2012 fit the 09 TriGlide? I have to get something that will work to stop this trike. I have no rear brakes, even standing on them, and I don't want to go to stock HD rear brakes. Can someone help me? I don't want to ride it until they are done, so desperate at this point, but don't want to make a mistake.
It doesn't appear I can get them from PM but have to get them from a dealer. Also, I read where the back brake cylinder was too close to the exhaust pipe, but they were coming up with a fix. HELP. (female, knows nothing about the mechanics, but a fast learner).
Thanks,
Joan

Use your FRONT BRAKES more than your rear brakes (always).
They have better Rotors and larger Brake Pads that you can put on your trike.
Your local Harley shop or Tech. person should be able to help.
Our local Tech man on this Forum can probably tell you what number to order.

Hi Joan It appears the PM conversion is no longer made. I looked on EBay and found several available from dealers. Probably left over stock. Now let me look at my books tomorrow and see what the differences are between 09 and 10 because PM lists it as a 10 thru 12 replacement. Maybe someone else will jump in here before I can respond.

Been awhile since Maggie Valley hope all is better last I heard your back was acting up.

There are a lot of things here that aren't answered on your Trike. Is the master cyl working & trying to apply the rear brakes? Are the pads worn away on the rear ? If there still good are they in adjustment?
If everything is in working order in the rear, have you had the rear brakes bled?
The reason I ask these questions is the fact I was trying to buy other systems for my 2012. I had brakes but not good brakes. everything I tried failed to help. I finally changed to EBC HH pads & I can now slide the rear tires on pavement. With the original system. Oh I forgot,,,, I did have the rotors changed to the cast rotors to get away from squealing brakes.
I'm not saying they couldn't be helped more, but I'm not afraid of them anymore. In my book not spending $1500-$1800 for PM system is a plus.

No difference between the 09 - 10 rear brakes. They still make them for the Triglide http://www.performancemachine.com/motorcycle-trike-accessories/trike-brake-systems.aspx

folks still sell them, http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/p...e-models-10-and-newer/part/PM-1550-0052-S1-CH.

What are HBC HH pads? We changed to lyndell gold racing pads but they never felt much better than the stock, but at least I had some rear brake. My husband took my trike and purposely slammed on both front and rear brakes, and the only skid mark came from the front wheel. I can't even hold the bike on a slight incline with the rear. I can engine brake then apply just rears (for a test, I know I should use both) at the last minute before a stop and bike doesn't respond. The brake pedal is not soft feeling like a fluid leak would cause. Hubby says rotors are good.
I wouldn't mind trying new pads first before spending $1400 on a system. We bled the system, but no difference. :(

Mike, thanks for the link at PM. I did a search but could not find it originally.

Joan, I use HBC HH pads. They are an american made pad. I have them on my 2013. You can easily find them on Ebay and other dealers using a search. I like them alot. I can lock the brakes up when I want to. If you got a firm pedal and it just doesn't stop I'm wondering if you didn't glaze your rotors and pads and there is not gripping power. Maybe have George get a new set of rotors or see if you can get yours turned (there is not a lot of material there to allow turning I'm told). Then Flush and Bleed the brakes real good and add a new set of the HBC HH pads. The brake fluid should be changed every 2 years or so. That should resolve your problem. You've had that trike since new so I am thinking the brake issue is recent.

Yes, it is new as far a this bad. Never did have great brakes, but never felt like i wouldn't have something there in an emergency. I will show George this thread. Thanks.

Also, to answer your first post, no it wasn't my back. I broke my knee cap and a week later tore my ligaments and tendons around the knee. It's been two years and other than now having some arthritis, I am pretty much out of pain. So ready to jump back in, although I have done some riding since my "incidents", it was never very far.

Joan glad you are recovering. I think George will not have any trouble getting the brake issue resolved. It's mostly a pad issue. There really is a big difference in the after market pad. Just need to get your rotors back in shape.

Good luck

I also tried the Lyndell Gold pads on mine & they were ruined by the dealer when he put them on without cleaning off the paint on the new rotors. I then tried to recover the pads without any luck. I decided to give the EBC HH pads a try before going nuts with money.

The EBC Double H Sintered brake pads:Copied from Motorcycle Superstore:
"Consistently rated as one of the best, the EBC Double-H Sintered Pads are some of the grippiest street legal motorcycle brake pads you can buy. Named after the highest friction rating available, HH, these EBC brake pads are perfectly suited for hard street use. The sintered copper alloy construction is built for long life and heat and work well in a wide variety of riding conditions."

These say you must order 2 sets, but mine came 4 pads on one package. You might try & find them on other sites. Or even try EBC site to get a correct part number from them.

If you have a problem with the rotors not being good try & have them turned at a brake dealer somewhere then install the pads. I think you will bee impressed.

:Agree: There has to be glazing of the pads, rotors or both. I always flush the brake system every 2 years, its amazing how discolored the fluid gets from contamination.

Thanks Sloufoot and Gorilla! You guys just may have saved me a bunch of dough! I will try these pads first. I may just go ahead and change the rotors too. My other half says my rotors look fine, but I just want to get er done and not have to worry. ;)
You' all have a great day!
