Place To Park

Forest Lake MN.
I am contemplating taking a trip this winter. I am thinking about traveling from Minnesota to Texas to visit a relative. I would have to do this in January-February so I need to trailer my bike far enough to be out of the snow and possible ice storms.

I was wondering if anyone could help with any tips as far as finding a place to park my truck and enclosed trailer for a couple of weeks while I roamed the warm country via bike. Obviously I don't expect anything for free, I just figured someone on the board must have done something similar in there own travels.

Thanks for any tips or help!

My brother has a place in Mission so that would be my destination. I certainly wouldn't mind if I had to take a round about way to get there. Winter is the only time (because of work) that I have to travel.

Thanks for the replies!

Motorcycle dealerships are a start. Some will let you park it for free, others may not. RV parks are another place to inquire.

hi Whopper, I live in huntington, texas thats 100 mils. north of Houston just off of hwy 59. you are welcome to park your rig at my place. of course the price will be high, on the high side would be a cup of coffee, low side nothing. we get very little snow and when we do it is just a dusting. Ice is for only a day or two. I would think there are other members that live a little north of me that would do the same. if you want to take me up on my offer just pm me any time. you'll have a good day.

Clarence is a 100% gem of a guy, I can vouch for that. He and Darlene have become good friends of many here including me. If you leave it at his place, you'll have no worries.

If you are coming down I-35, try Mitchell Motorsports in Kyle, Texas (just south of Austin, he is a trike builder/dealer). Ask for Travis Mitchell (owner), tell him that O.J. recommended him. I can also vouch for Trail Blazer, he is a gem!
Good luck and be safe!

Depending on the forecast, we have enough room to park your trailer and truck at our place in Anderson, MO - 40 miles south of Joplin. It is about 350 miles to Dallas. Just come on down I-35 to Kansas City, I-435 around KC on the East side to I-49 that goes right through Anderson. If the weather forecast cooperates the ride from here would take you through most of Oklahoma and through texas, somewhere in the neighborhood of 900 miles for the trip.
Whatever you do it sounds like a good ride - have fun!

Snow ?

Even Dallas had a bad winter.
Go way south if you can, and camp next to a billboard
to get out of the wind. We rode the 3 sisters in Hill Country and SW, the people and ride were great.
Oh and BBQ was a treat coming from the north.
Google Historical monthly Wind/temps/Sun for a town.
Of course I'd ride in wind before staying in Mn winter.
Very surprising data.
happy day
