New Stallion engine

I guess I didn't catch this earlier but I have seen it mentioned that there is a new engine that has been decided on for the Stallion. Any idea of what engine it is (I have heard it is a 2.5L) and is there anything out official by TMS on it?

And I guess the next question would be how much HP and torque are we talking about.

And I disagree, in a nice way of course, with one comment that said the Stallion did not need any more power than it already had. The Triumph Rocket III (Standard, Classic or even the new Roadster) already had 140 to 147 HP and up to 154 ft.lbs of torque. That is the kind of power I like dealing with and one of the reasons that attracted me to the Stallion. But if you have a newer engine (presumably a little heavier) with a possible different type of transmission (again possibly a little heavier) with the passenger capacity and luggage in the trunk and the possibility of pulling a trailer...it wouldn't hurt my feelings if another 20 or 30 HP and more torque was added to the package...it may even help with the mileage.

Anyway just wanted to know.

I think the discussion should center around power to weight ratio. My Duck has 100HP and weighs 420lbs. The new 2011 Multistrada weighs a little more and has 150 HP! The Stallion has a large engine, but suffers from large weight as well. So I agree you can increase the Stallion displacement, but it may be easyer to lighten it up and achieve the same increase in performance.

I would love to see an energy efficent option for the Stallion. Or even an electric version.

They took several hundred pounds off the Stallion when they went to the molded body vs the hand laid glass. They have not anounced the numbers yet for the new engine because they are not done with the adaption. I'm sure the numbers will change based on the changes made to the software for using the drive train in the Stallion.

Ive been told via PM that there is only a 80 lbs difference in the bodies.

Duratec 25

The Duratec 25, or Duratec 2.5 L I-4, is an evolution of the Duratec 23. 'Duratec 25' should not be confused with the similarly named 2.5 L V6 Ford Duratec. The new Duratec 25 is an inline 4-cylinder engine design that is identical to the Mazda MZR 2.5L engine. The bore and stroke have increased over the 2.3 L to 89 mm x 100mm and as such now displaces 2488 cc | 151ci. Power has been increased to 175 hp@6000 rpm and 172 lb-ft@4500 rpm torque. It is the smoothest and quietest Duratec 4-cylinder. A Hybrid Duratec 25 will be replacing the Hybrid Duratec 23.

Fuel saving features include adaptive knock control and aggressive deceleration fuel cutoff.[4]
