Hello, I am new to the forum. I am looking at buying my first trike. I have been reading this forum and trying research trikes and trike kits for a while now. I have found a 2009 Goldwing with a 2006 Motor Trike kit installed on it. It has IRS. I am just concerned about the difference in the year models of the bike and kit. Was their much change change between 2006 and current IRS kits (Reliability, etc)

Thanks
Larry

Some of you "Senior Members" please help us out here.

I don't recall ever hearing mention of a MOTOR TRIKE IRS prior to 2009 or maybe even 2010. If that's true then there's a number/model disconnect.

Larry, are you positive it had Independent Rear Suspension? Maybe it is a new then thought of kit. That would be GREAT !!! Either way there's is some confusion right now...

You might contact Motor Trike. I bet they will have record of every kit and what it went onto by make and VIN.. Then you will know exactly what you are dealing with.

Thank you for the reply. I will contact Motor Trike. I can abviously expect the kit to be newer than the bike, but not the other way around. And Moter Trike just went into business in 1994 and it desen't make sence that they would have had the IRS that early on. The information I have so far comes from the sell and I haven't gotten to see the trike yet, but I was trying to get as much factual information before hand as i could.

Again
Thank You for the reply

welcome aboard deere. i would suggest you get the conversion serial number and contact MT for the info. the rest is speculation.

The MT Adventure IRS has only been out a couple yrs. Not sure exactly. Prior to that they were all solid axle. 2006 MT was definitely solid axle.

Motor Trike confirmed that the first IRS kits came out 3 years ago. Also after further conversation with the seller he thinks the kit is 2009. But I am getting him to send me the VIN on the bike and the Trike Kit so I can check it out for myself before I venture any farther.

Thanks to All
Larry

As we do not see most bikes converted, we use a "rear end number" to ID our kits. The VIN number is not used by us to track warranty, or any other aspect. The rear end number on the Adventure is just below the inspection cover on the rear end, and stamped into the metal plate. On solid axle shaft driven bikes, it's stamped on the snout of the differential, just above where the driveshaft attaches to the rear end.
