A poor mans load test @ home can be done very easily with a voltmeter hooked up @ the battery, observe the cranking volts when starting your ride

If the cranking volts drop below 10 volts, you can most often bet your battery is going South

When doing this: Touch the multimeter probes to the battery posts, not the terminals on the battery cable.
