Late nighters---unite!!!

Hopefully and you don't have to wife it like Clinton.:xszpv:
I did.

And I've paid the price. At least it's working again. Gotta love her for that.

It's a bare iPad now, but I had way too many apps on it that I didn't use anyhow. Just glad the durn thing is working again.

Caged into work tonight. Gonna pick up a few cases of pop tomorrow that's on a great sale ($4.99 case), so I'm gonna need room.

As of now, I'm down to less than 8 years to my forced retirement. June 30, 2024 will be the last day they will allow me to work.

Kinda scares me a little, to tell the truth about it.

Crud! :xzqxz:

It just hit me...tomorrow, I have to run the weed eater. I avoided that yesterday, so I'll have to do it in the morning.

I was unfortunately on the road yesterday afternoon at around 3:00pm. Let me tell ya, the idiots were out in full force. Most running 80mph then get on their phone and slow to 65mph. Then back up. Pure insane to be out there with so many idiots. So I just added one more to the pack. Set the bike at 85 and got the heck home zig-zagging like the other idiots. At least I wasn't on no dang phone though!

I can't figure out how to use the phone while I'm on the TG. There's a way, I'll just need to pull out the manual and see. I'm probably better off not though.

Don't try the dang phone unless you like being frustrated. I tell the thing to do something simple like play some music and most times it will come back saying, " I'm sorry, I can't do that while you are in the car". Then other times it will do it. Ticks me off to no end.

Exactly the type stuff it does to me. I'll never figure it out. The bad thing is, I'm relatively young, and I already have a hard time with computerized stuff.

In other news, I caged into work tonight because it looks like the radar has rain in store for most of the night, and tomorrow morning. This is liable to be the first time in about 2 months I'll truck in rather than trike in the majority of the week.

Too lazy to run the weedeater today. I just keep putting it off and putting it off. I'm about as lazy as it gets, I suppose.

I see where the thread is getting close to 2000 posts. Of course I'm nearly half of that all by my lonesome.

Scott, I'll get it closer by one, but it's time for some :vxtyaq:. I've been staying up to early morning recently and getting small hints from the wife about sleeping later than usual.

Uh-oh...I'll bet that means I'm going to lose you on this thread. Just comment any time you can. Same for everybody.

I shoulda triked to work!! Only a little sprinkle of rain has fallen. It just puts me in a better mood riding home in the wind. Rolling the window down doesn't quite do it for me.

I had to ride my wife's Spyder a few days ago when I got a quarter inch hole in the rear tire of my Roadmaster. I needed to get to my doctor's office so called for a tow and once it arrived my wife went with the bike while I continued. I can clear state I'm not ready to trike. But my ankle is going to push the issue.;)

Trucked into work tonight, and glad I did. It's already starting to rain, and according to radar, we will most likely get rain all night long, and probably most of the day tomorrow.

Looks like the cook-out is going to be a cook-in instead.

Well, time to roll up the truck window. The dreaded rain is finally starting to fall. :(

Oh yeah...passed my 4000th post and forgot to post it here...well, actually I didn't notice until I had already passed it. Oh well.

Sleeping with the windows open tonight. 66 degrees and the rain isn't supposed to start until around 9 a.m. Then scattered thunderstorms from noon throughout the rest of the day. We'll probably be cooking in, too.

Congrats on the 4000 post.:wave4:

Welcome back!!

How ya been? I was just thinking this would be a great camping night because of the temperature (sans rain of course).

We got some weather on the camping trip. Quick storm came up with 60 mph or so winds and pea sized hail. We were expecting something, but not that severe. Most everyone rolled up their awnings, but one family just lowered the arms on theirs. It did not survive. Our metal outside table blew over and broke a leg off of my cast iron burners. There was an 18' ultra lite trailer that got blown back 3'. We could tell by the 3' furrow the tongue jack plowed in the ground.

Wow...that was quite a storm. Glad you made it through fairly unscathed. Of course now that you have the Good Sam policy, that's about right.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but for some reason my iPad quit tethering to my iPhone's personal hot spot. Now that I'm using this zag keyboard for my iPad, I hate typing on my phone. This thing is seriously just as good as using a laptop keyboard.

Crud...starting to rain pretty hard right now..

Man, it's raining here like pee pouring out of a boot!!

Now to change the subject completely......

I'm toying around with what post I'm going to take next quarter. It's way early to be thinking about it, but here's what I'm looking at... There is a compressed post that works four 10 hour shift in a week on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Three days off is a good thing in my book. If I worked an overtime shift on my days off, I'd still get 2 days off with the OT.

The only downfall to this schedule is it's prone to mandatory OT, where I get off at 10am instead of 8am. The people that work compressed schedules on mid nights usually get hit with it about 4 times a quarter. But the good thing about that is it's not usually a full shift.

Just a lot of things to think about....

We finally got a little rain but we were beginning to need it again, though. Got about 2.75. Little less. Last time we got that much my wife was out and couldn't get back in. The creek rose and washed out the road. Sure was a nice quiet evening.:D Didn't get lucky this time.:AGGHH:

:AGGHH: Wtf is forced retirement ? Your mind and or body should tell you when to quit shouldn't it ?

We have that issue in my part of sw Ellis county. All of the small creeks feed into the Trinity in one way or another. Of the 5 ways into or out of my area, all would go under water. After the county became the recipient of a class action lawsuit they finally raised the grade level of one creek crossing. Sadly it is the one that requires emergency equipment to travel the furthest. In fact, the first responders must travel into Johnson county and then back into Ellis county.

Trucked into werk tonight. Still rainy.

First week in many that I've had to cage here more than I've triked here.

:Depressed:

Well, you'd think wouldn't you?!? The problem with that is, the feds don't believe law enforcement should be allowed to work past age 57. Which is a crock of crap, because about 15 years ago, they stopped all state and local police departments from requiring retirement related to age.

I ride in the rain all the time when it's above 50. I figure that's why I bought a high end rain suit and gators.

My rain suit only cost $60, so I only use it if absolutely necessary. Besides I would have to get ready about 10 minutes earlier for a 5 mile ride. So that's one big reason I don't.

Scott, forced retirement seems to be the very essence of age discrimination. If you can meet the physical requirements necessary the year of, then you can meet them the year after and possibly many more depending. What is the supposedly forced age?

Edit: ok, 57 is unrealistic for someone who still wants to remain on the job.

That is total bull poop ! Heck, I could still work for the state if I wanted to. Just that long ago I reached my saturation point for being spit at or having feces thrown at me. :AGGHH: Nothing worse than having to drive a cattle car in the TX heat. :gah:

So, you worked in a prison/jail setting as well?

I was just talking to another officer about the smell of feet and ass in the unit I'm working in during the summer. Trust me, working in a perimeter truck in the summer 4 out of 5 days is a great break for me.

 Long ago ........... In another life ! At least I escaped. :D Never again .........

Here's the kicker. Two years ago, they started letting retired vets up to age 60 put in for federal law enforcement positions, and they can work until 70. I don't have a thing against veterans having the jobs, but they should let civilians get the jobs under the same parameters. As of right now, a civilian can't start in a fed law enforcement job after they reach the age of 37. Again, that's blatant age discrimination. I find this laughable, especially when they told state and local law enforcement that they could not stop people from being hired due to age.
