Late nighters---unite!!!

Man, I'd love to have that old truck.

It is for sale. The sign is laying on the ground, but I took the picture from the state road, knowing that my wife would crap if I even thought about the purchase so I didn't even check the price. Just told her I wanted to post in this forum. :D

I totally understand why you'd be interested, as I was silently. :AGGHH:

Today the wife and I traveled one of our favorite routes so will try and take those interested on our journey. 5 hours and only 114 miles round trip. What a beautiful day to leisurely ride below the river bluffs in rich soil bottom ground. Smooth blacktop cruising. I'll begin with my grungy mug shot. Before we even got out of the city limits I spotted these beauties. The last one I got up close and personal. :D

Once we got out of the city limits it was 30 miles of flat river bottom farm ground. Boring for some I'm sure, but my mind starts to think about thousands acres that grow our food and fuel economies. My mind fast forwards through pioneers, modern machinery, extreme wealth, and dying old settlements. I fly through the course of history with lightning speed as I cruise on the mostly straight as an arrow bringing into the picture Indian nations who roamed the same ground. Snapshots are all the same it seems, but different. The river shot is below Warsaw on the bluff. More about that in the following post.

Warsaw has some fairly decent history that is dying with the ages.

Leaving Warsaw the next 10 miles or so are like below. Even more beautiful in the fall for sure.

At the end of those 10 miles brought us on the Illinois side from Keokuk, Ia. The next couple of miles brought us to the rental you can enjoy for 10 Grand a night. :AGGHH:
Justin Bieber rented it for a night a couple of days ago when his tour bus lost its air conditioning, ah. Took a couple of pictures from outside the gate, because I can't afford to get inside the gate, much less rent for a night. If you want to see more of it you can at this link.

We are on one the premiere cycle roads for miles around headed toward Nauvoo, an old LDS settlement with some excellent scenic views, decent winding road, with hills that make you think you are dropping of the earth. It kind of reminds me of the old massive wooden roller coasters, but you have control of the speed. ;) The wife wanted to drive so she got the bars when we left the cheap rental. :D

Onward to Nauvoo, Ill.

Entering Nauvoo, plenty of things to check out. This will be a spam of pictures since the wife is demanding my attention. We took the same route home.

An all around packed full day.

Sure ya can. Bet you could book passage on a barge toter. Ride it down the Ohio to Cairo, IL. Then follow the Great River Road route north on the IL side of the Mississippi River.

Scott, glad you liked the pics.

Dbl Trbl and ol school, you'd both enjoy our Tin Duster event in October.

2010 and it seems to get larger every year. If you can name any vehicle from the past you'll find two or more at this event. Set the date in October and you won't be disappointed. City block, after city block of superb vehicles.

Tin Dusters Event

We have the same kind of event yearly in Fishkill NY, as they close the town street and line up about 1/4mile with cars. But it's not free, it's NY !!

I don't know about that! NYC doe's Get all that free water:laugh: they've stolen ''Fair and Square'' 'From the hard pan farmers of Up-State NY.......:D

I've got an old Air Force buddy in Venice IL, how far is that from this event??

Two routes he could take.

Dual lane all the way. I-70 W to US-62 N, 136.6 miles, 70 and 65 speed limits.
or
Il-100 to Il-96, which is two-way traffic, 133.7, more scenic, 55 miles an hour speed limits, the most time to travel.

Maybe 20-25 minutes difference in time, two-way a rougher ride. By car I'd take the first route, bike I'd take the 2nd.

I like it when the news raves how to stay cool with the fire hydrants wide open while they take there baths as it all runs into the river:gah:

Just think, free education, the USA to be run by career students .

Isn't that where we are now? Being a Senator was never meant to be a lifetime career either but here we are. What would these people do if they couldn't stay being a student or some political position? They don't have common sense so who would want them?;)

What, no heat in those trucks?
Catfish is right. Truck has heat. I'm gonna need the jacket for the ride home.

On a somber note--I may have killed my iPad. I was trying to update through my phone, and all it will do now is tell me to hook up to iTunes. :(

At your own risk hold down the home button and power button at the same time and cross your toes. :D

Edit: On second thought it might be best to search youtube for a fix on a computer for your iPad. Might be your safest avenue. Search-> enable ipad

Already tried both routes. Nothing works. Hopefully hooking it up to iTunes in the morning will.
