Just back from there last night. Drove out to attend a concert with Brooks and Dunn, with Reba and to see the place for the last time. Two and a half hours of pure entertainment. Really great tribute to our active military and veterans. Las Vegas used to be a great place to visit. You could stay cheap, eat cheap, take $100 and play video poker all week, but, no more. Now it's all about getting your last penny some way or another in exchange for not very damn much. Stayed at the Rio which is really showing its age. The room was large, but threadbare with stained, ragged carpet. You were given two paper cups, no coffee, two bars of soap and one tube of shampoo.
The No Tell Motel would have been ashamed to use the towels and wash cloths. We were given two visits to their "world famous" buffet where the food was only fit for slopping hogs. The only saving grace of the place was the staff - friendly, prompt, and helpful without having their hands out all the time for tips. Actually left a day early after driving around the city a bit and deciding we'd had enough. Did enjoy the trip though, just getting away for a bit. Next excursion is San Antonio to visit the Alamo again and see the artifacts returned to Texas by Phil Collins.
