Will it has come time to have my knees replaced. First the right one. Going to happen 27 Jun. Needs to be done. Some of you know how it feels. Not fun at times.

Yes but we'll worth the short time pain recovery as to the long time pain you have probably been living with !

Hang in there the orthopedic surgeons have knee replacement down to a science. A hunting buddy of mine had both his knees replaced at the same time' And they even did them while he waited ....

All kidding aside he did have them both done at the same time, And it worked out fine for him..
Plus no joking' He's an inch taller now... ThumbUp

YUP, it's a personal decision for sure. My orthopedic surgeon told me years ago I was going to need it. I asked him when. His reply "You'll know when it's time"... The replacement isn't as good as OEM but it a LOT better then the worn out one.

I waited too long with the hip so when the pain got really bad with the knee I did not wait.

Well be praying for quick recover Bob!! :xszpv: :xszpv:

Good luck be prepared they will have you up that day. What you put into rehab will tell the tale.

In the late 80's my dad had both replaced at the same time. He was religious in following the rehab regimen, and was back golfing in 6 weeks. After he got them done he said he didn't realize how much they hurt until they didn't anymore. The only real surprise he had was when the doctor asked him if he was Catholic. Didn't know what that had to do with it, until the doc told him he could do pretty much anything except kneel on them.
I'm thinking that technology has come a long way since then. Good luck, and here's to a speedy recovery.ThumbUp

I haven't had my knees replace only cleaned out. I was surprised when I had it done that I was laid up longer than if I would have had them replaced. I meet a guy the day I went to have my knees cleaned out and he was having his knees replaced. On our checkup after the surgery he came in walking and I was still on crutches. Hope everything goes good for you and get back out there riding.ThumbUp

Not me but the Misses had hers done a couple of years ago, listen to the therapist and DO IT, ok, that was harsh but in the long run it will be worth it for the rest of your life.

Will Monday is the big day for the first knee replacement. I all so got my rehab here in Enterprise. No home rehab all will be done at a rehab. I will be there for 20 days. I am ready. Want these bad knees go away. Just doing the right one first. Asking for prayers.

Wife had both of her knees replaced. Sept and then Dec. By April she was doing pretty much what she wanted to do. Therapy is the key, and it is for a lifetime, not just a few weeks. Prayers for healing Jim

Jim speaks the truth Bob. Not trying to scare you but that PT is really important. The surgery is so routine these days but the PT is up to the patient. It's been several years since mine was done and I can tell when I get lazy and don't move around. That sucker stiffens up and starts aching. Sure is a good reason to stay active these days.. :)

We'll be praying for you my friend. :xszpv::xszpv:

Had both mine replace at the same time, 3 or 4 hours later they came said get up were going for a walk, I said what the hell do you meant going for a walk if you want to go ahead but that was not want they meant. ya it a lot of pain but after its over it sure worth it

By biggest problem with mine was on the way home we had to stop after 30 minutes to do a walk and got t blood clot that went to my lungs that put me back down for 8 weeks

Up date I am at the rehab center been her for two and half days. All ready waiting to go home. But got some more days to go about 18. Doing good just trying to stay out of bed. It is really hot out side. Thanks all for your prayers.

Hang in there Bob. It does get better !! :xszpv::xszpv: We'll keep talking with the MAN (or WOMAN) for you.. :)

Keeping you in prayers.

Rehab centers are really sucky places to be. The only upside is they will make you work whether you want to or not, making for a much faster and full recovery.

I do not envy you....at all.

From what I've read, shoulder replacement works much better than the ankle replacement I have. You don't put all your weight on it all the time. I know 2 people that have had a shoulder replacement and one was 79 years old when he did. It was rough on him, especially rehab, but he did it and is still doing very well. So good luck but I think you'll like the end result. But with knee replacement you do put your weight on it all the time. The only good thing is they have got it down to a science now and it is pretty darn good. Unlike my ankle. But it too has improved thru the years.

Knee update

Will it has been 14 days since the knee replacement. This last week was tough but have made. It is getting better. May not have to be here the hole rehab time if it keeps getting better. That would be fine with me. Bed is really bad.
