This is absolutely nuts. Vintage film of race car crashes. No roll cages or seat belts or any safety gear. Simply amazing footage! I wonder how many of these guys died! And, the fans and camera men are right beside the track ... crazy!!!

I remember, as a kid, at the local airfield, they held stock car races in an empty field and the only thing that separated the crowd from the track on the straight-aways was a rope stretched across posts. One could almost reach out and touch the cars as they sped by. Looking back, CRAZY!! At the time, par.

Racing has always be a dangerous sport to get into. I have been into racing all my life (on the side) and have seen many changes for safety.

Yep, how it started....by the time I started driving Stock Cars (1972), it was much, much safer. It has still progressed to be even safer since I retired from driving them (1990)....Great Link.....ThumbUp
