I am a new member that owns a 2008 Can-Am Spyder which I Love. I described it under the new members forum.
Anyway I ride with Harley riders you know what that is like. It's not a HARLEY!!!
I have interest in the 2010 Harley Street Glide $26,999. 103cc / 101ft.lbs. torque. HP ???
It does not have half as many features as my Spyder safety features ETC. + 106 hp + 4hp for my exhaust = 110hp & 77 ft. lbs. torque with the 998cc/990 Rotax engine. But it is a HARLEY.
Any body have experience with Harley Trikes? Is worth trying to sell mine for the 2010 Trike??

Good day

It's worth it -- if it is what you want for yourself! We have Triglide owners on this forum, and they seem to love 'em. I have a Fat Boy/Champion trike kit, and I love it and don't want anything else! But I've got to tell you, it doesn't matter what you ride as long as you are riding the trike or bike that you love! Don't be pressed into something you will be sorry for.

My comments in blue, the original post in black. Just seemed easier to answer that way.

I think that the first sentance speaks for itself.

Nope, never will be, but it is more unique than a HD. BTW, my 2 wheeler is a Harley, the trike a Goldwing..

A Harley with less horses, very different riding style and radically different ergonomics, a more common "look" and most likely more payments/expense than you have now. Don't get me wrong - I like the TG a lot, being a HD guy for the last 26 years.

Definatly agree with Nana. You must decide for yourself. BTW, the HD guys now say it's not a Harley, but if you do get a TG, then you'll get the business about having too many wheels! It's always something.:rolleyes:Now you should hear it when 'Wingers and Harley riders get together!;)

Good day

As we say in ABATE - It's not what you ride, it's that you ride that counts.

Agree with Nana and Doughboy. I ride a 07 Road Glide/Champion conversion. I love it also, but you should ride what you like. You should not ride what I like and you don't. Ted

Also read as much as you can about the 07 and later Harley
touring bikes (including the 2010's). Some people are not
happy with some of the minor problems. Some people buy
a Harley just to " FIT IN " with their friends then find out
they do not like the changes from their original rides.
Most of the minor problems SEAM to be rectifiied with
the 2010 models BUT the extra heat comming from the
motor is still and always will be an issue until they go
to a water or oil cooled motor. That being said the heat
issue is not the same for everyone. Cooloer climates it
is not so much a problem but let it get above 80 degrees
and ride in stop and go or city traffic and it will get HOT.
There are ways to help with the heat but be ready to
spend some $$$$$.

Thanks
All GREAT posts, good to hear everybody thoughts.
How do front wheel trikes ride and handle? Over pot holes etc. Corners.
when I sat on a Tri-Glide it was comfortable, a lot more comfort than my Spyder.
The dealers have them in the showrooms and you have to be pretty serious to buy before you test ride.
My Spyder has 2486 miles on it and they offered me 11,500. MSRP is 17,699 on my Spyder plus.WOW!!!!
Have any of you TRIKERS rode a Spyder to come pair with your trike??
I am full of questions but thats why I found this site.

Good day

Front wheel trikes?? hummmm I thought I had 6 reverse gears. Hey.. that just might work and it would make the seat more comfortable and I can stop steering with my feet!

OK, OK.. just kidding:D:D

Ghez DB.. I love the spyder. Rode a buds and he couldn't get me off of it for the longest time.. was having a blast..until my back froze up. Then I had to be carried off.

Having a single front wheel isn't bad at all and although the spyder I rode may out corner my trike at high speeds it wouldn't out ride my trike in comfort. Pot holes aren't bad.. just like on a bike, steer around them. Much better to hit one with the back car tire anyway.

I would try to sell the spyder before trading it in. Could save you a couple grand.

Thanks Reksul
For the info. In your opinion the trike is more comfortable. Would you say the Spyder is more of a sport bike, and the front wheel trike is more for cruising comfort?
Did you notice a power difference?

I rode an 08 CanAm?? I think that is right. It was in the 900 cc range and had very quick little 5 speed. I remember I couldn't stop riding it.. I was hooked.

Honestly I can tell you that it is more sporty than my HD trike. Zippy one may say but I really don't think I could ride it all day. The leaning forward with your feet under and just behind you would just kill my back.

Now, don't get me wrong... The HD trike has some fun power and great pulling torque. I can easily pull the front tire or burn the back two tires but the Spyder is quicker, lighter and less comfortable. Just my .02

Doughboy...don't take this wrong, but it almost sounds like you are trying to convince yourself to but a Harley and that ain't good!

I ride a Harley trike and have ridden Harleys for many years, but as the saying goes "if I have to explain why I ride a Harley, you'll never understand".

You have to ride what you WANT to ride if you 're going to be happy.

My daughter rides a Blast  but she loves it and won't trade it. Many of my friends ride Gold Wings and I love riding with them. In fact, I even rode with them to the Honda Homecoming and had a great time. Of course I took a lot of ribbing, but it was never tempted to but a Honda.

I can give it back too. It was also great fun being virtually the only Hog in a sea of Hondas.

Bottom line, don't yield to any kind of peer pressure in making your decision. Just do what makes YOU happy...and looking at your stable, I think you know what I'm saying.

I test rode the Spyder last year. Loved it! They wouldn't let me carry a passenger on the test ride. I'm pretty sure the missus would be ok for short trips but not for long trips. On the survey we did after the test ride I told them I would buy one that was set up for serious touring. Their comment was I'd have to wait for it. So far the only thing I've seen is sport touring goodies for it, no full boat touring rigs yet. So, until they come with serious touring capacity I'll continue to ride my T Glide. Best case would be to own one each!! Don't think that's gonna happen! It's your decision. By the way where do you live? Right now I have an extra HD trike, if you'd like to try it out I'd be happy to go for a little ride with you, no obligation on your part. I'm in Kansas.

Dwight

Thanks again for all your reply s.
Dwight I live in Connecticut. I will ride my Spyder to Kansas, to test drive your trike. But I will have a Ambulance following me.

Good day
