Gas mileage dropped

Anyone every heard of a charcoal canister located by the clutch bleeder valve? Has anyone ever had any experience with it or know what its there for?

Its purpose in life is to filter out raw gas fumes that come off the top of the gas tank. The filter is connected to the top of the tank and then to the intake. It is part of your emissions stuff. If the line comes off the intake from the canister you will have a vacuum leak.

All my lines are connected to my canister. My mechanic did a complete check-out of my Trike a few weeks ago and could find nothing wrong. I'm going to have to be satisified with getting 34.8 I suppose, since two mechanics told me the same thing. Since everyone is blaming their fuel, I'll blame my drop on mileage on fuel also because we can find nothing wrong with my Trike.

A month ago I mentioned getting 36-38 mph on my new HD 2011 trike. Now, back in Colorado and weather has allowed us to move freely in the mtns. Today, using 91 RON fuel, no corn added, and one up, going the speed limit (most of the time :) I once again got 36.8 mpg. With fuel prices up I guess this will always be a topic of conversation? Now, have 700 miles on the new bike and mpg is remaining steady. Used 6th gear 50% of the time (new gearing does well in mtns).

For whatever it's worth, we just rode the '09 and '11 trikes from Santa Clarita to Laughlin Nv. (850 miles total) The '09 got 38.5 mpg, the '11 got 37.0. Stock gearing, Reinhardt's on the '11 Rush on the '09. Both have the high flow air cleaners, and an injection re-map.
