Gas gauge

Could someone tell me how to calibrate the gas gauge. When it is full it is about a quarter off the fuel full mark. When it is showing empty I actually still have about a quarter tank.

Not sure how that could have happened. Thought maybe there was an adjustment at the back of the guage. Getting to the float will be a job. Thanks for the response.

The stallion gas gage is almost worthless. The gas tank on the stallion is thinner at the top then at the bottom. The gage can not be made to read accurately because of that. You can adjust the rod for the gage to be correct either when full or empty. The better answer is not to depend on it and go by mileage since you filled it up. Sorry but that is just how they built the tank.

Victor,
I would trust Gorilla. That being the case it shouldn't be hard to adjust the rod(to float) to read correctly from - say - 1/4 to 3/8 empty.Better than not working either way.
Goog luck,
Tip

I have a 2008 Stallion and when it shows empty and the fuel light comes on, I still have 3-3/12 gallons left. TMS advised this was a design error in 08 and that had to remove tank to fix problem. they also advised this work should only be done by factory personnel. I have learned to live with it.

I have a 2010 stallion, it also has the same issues, among other promblems, I have had it for about 6 weeks, in that time, turn signals havent works, ac not working, engine light on, and now today tooks a 100 mile trip and on the way back, over heated, thought it was thermostat but after reading not sure, Me and my wife love this trike though, just not the headaches, lol, Richard has been very good about helping so thats good, I did buy used with 11000 miles, runs real good just little things happening, Im hoping we get all the bugs out, do love it though,

Jamie, glad you are hanging in there. I bet you are having relay issues. Once squared away you will be good to go.

My 08 Stallion is the same as everyone else, mine will show full but within 50 miles it will show 3/4 and when the low fuel light comes on it has about 3 gallons left. I have just watched for the light and know I have about 100 miles to empty. Gorilla, it was good seeing you in South Dakota last week.

Hi Ed we are still out and about. In Butte MT on the way back. Glacier National Park was great. Nice bumping into you guys also.

There is no calibration for the gas gauge. TBMS ended up designing a new fuel gauge arm a couple years back, which was designed to be more accurate. The installation of this arm is a little more difficult. It can be installed with the tank on the bike, but you need a technician with small hands. I performed this task numerous times, and it can make you pull your hair out. You have to be extremely careful not to break the gas gauge sending unit inside the tank, or drop the arm itself. Get ahold of TBMS and they can get you the new designed arm, but finding someone to put it in might be a little more difficult.
