Okay here is my question. I would like to mount my 550 to either top of dash or onto the windshield. I prefer it mounted centered, easier to see and shield from the sun. Anyone see a problem with this. I am a little concerned with vibration stress.

If you are mounting with a suction cup, I would recommend using silicone to lock it in place. That is what I did on my previous bike. I siliconed the suction cup over the tach (I don't need no Stinkin' tach anyways).

Spidey,
I recently mounted a Tom Tom on my Suzuki VS800 trike. Couldn't center mount on handlebars because it obstructed view of the speedo. Depending on your configuration, center mount might work for you. Works great for me mounted on left side of bar, so far haven't had any more sun glare than in the car in same position.

So, here are the accessories I purchased from Amazon:

I started with an Arkon GPS032 handlebar mount for 3.5-4.3 inch GPS, about $19. Comes with a zip up waterproof case to enclose the GPS and has a clear plastic front which doesn't seem to impede viewing of GPS screen. Some reviewers complained about unit not being waterproof in torrential rains. Typical sour grapes, I live in Florida and am older and smarter enough to quit driving during the downpours.

Next item was a Battery Tender female power port 081-0069-8, about $10.50. Nice cord length and plugs into the charger pigtails where the Battery Tender Jr. charger plugs in for external electric. I use the tender to keep my battery up between rides, never had a problem with battery heating, overcharging, etc.

The TomTom car charger plugs right into the female power port (it looks just like a cigarette lighter receptacle and probably works for many other charging applications). GPS end runs through bottom hole of the GPS case.

Wrap a small plastic food baggie over the port/GPS connection and secure ends against the elements with small twist ties. Run the cord under the bottom edge of the saddle, then zig zag remaining cord, secure with a larger twist tie, then attach to lower part of handlebar or other convenient location. Ready to ride!

Hope this solution is helpful to you and other trikers, Bob.
