Frankenstein Trike kit on a softail springer

Grimm,

We are heading down to SA tonight. Then we will pick up the trike at 8 am Saturday morning. I can't wait to see her and for the maiden voyage back up to our neck of the woods. I know this is short notice but I'd love to see your trike close up and actually meet you in person. We will be pressed for time to get on the road heading home so I wont get much riding around SA time (to visit my old haunts). But the trip back north on 281 to Lampassas should be a nice stretch of road to get the feel for her and with the flowers in bloom and such, it should be a scenic ride. That and the weather should be perfect. If we don't have the opportunity to meet up, Thanks for dropping by the shop to check up on our baby and for the pictures.

BUUUT...my old lady is graduating with her MBA tomorrow morning so i will be really pressed for time. what time are you getting in, tonight? what time are you planning on getting to Ground Pounders in the morning?

anyway, i'm gonna PM my phone number to you. maybe we can coordinate a little something.
OK Grimm and Pup..... You've got to get a picture of the two of you together and post it here for me . And if the trikes are in it too, that would be fantastic!

Congrats on the new ride, Pup! You are going to have the best time with her!!!
Be safe out there.

Ok Nana as requested, here are a few pics of myself & Grimm and our two Frankenstein trikes. I put around 200 miles on her on the return trip and had no problems. Except for maybe spitting out all the bugs from the ear to ear smile I had all the way home.

Grimm, It was great and to meet you and thanks for everything my friend.

The other guy in the last pic was Emilio from Ground Pounders Motor works. Without him my trike would still be just a wish. Many thanks Emilio!

Pup

Those pictures are fantastic!!!! You guys look great, and the trikes are beautiful! But I already knew Grimm's was and that yours would be too, Pup. Emilio did a wonderful job, obviously!

David Thanks, They are Vance & Hines fishtail baggers and I too love the look and was so glad Emilio was able to modify the muffler mounts in order to save them.

Your trike looks very nice. Is that a Frankenstein kit also? If so... How much fabrication went in to putting your bags on like that? I would love a top opening set like that on mine since the old leather throw overs will no longer fit.

Job well done!

Trike looks great!

as you all know by now, pup arrived yesterday morning to pick up his 'stein. i have to admit, i have never looked at another trike with envy but damn...when i saw Emilio ride her out of his garage i was stunned. trust me when i say that pics do NOT do this trike justice. it looks amazing! you shoulda seen pup's smile when he first saw it. reminded me of when i saw my trike completely done.

pup, it was great meeting you at the shop and riding around for a bit. we were turning quite a few heads on the road. i had a really good time getting to know you and your wife and hope that it won't be the last time we hook up. maybe at the ROT rally! austin is pretty close to the middle for us.

anyway, here are some of the pics that i took....

Love the pictures, Grimm! Both of your trikes are beauties!!!! BOTH --- unique and beautiful :D.

Bags came from hardbags.com. They arrive black, unpainted and need to be primed and painted to match trike. Mounting hardware is included and I think they were about $335.00 U.S. They are fiberglass and I've been happy with them.

My trike kit is the trinity trike kit out of Hudson, Florida.
On the far right side of this there's a clickable link to Trinity Trike, the company is one of the trike talk.com sponsors.

I have heard very positive reviews on the Frankenstein kits and you have made a good choice!

I have a kliktronic shifter and dual brake set up on my trike due to losing my legs while working on the railway 34 years ago.

The trike is one of the most amazing things to happen to me and I think the true fountain of youth is feeling that wind in your face and the sights and sounds of riding.

The people that gave you a hard time about the handicap designation on your trike need to find lives...don't give them a second thought.

I've got Vance and Hines short shots on the Sporty and they sound and perform great.

Cheers. David.

Pin-hi,

Thanks for the info. Sorry it was so long before my answer, but I have spent pretty much every waking moment (except when at work) out riding. It's a blast to ride and now that I am more used to it... I have learned how well this thing corners. I rode down a small country road with many twists and turns (around 30 miles of em) this weekend. I had to slow down because I kept riding up on crotch rockets... LOL!!! I never knew how a trike could feel like it's a slot car in the tight twisties. My VW trike handled like a Buick Road master. But this handles like a Porsche. I love my trike.... Someone needs to write a song LOL

here are a few more...

nana, as requested, a couple of pics featuring both the trikes. (possible calendar cover??? haha)

grimm

LOL!!!

Grimm,

Let me know when and where you want to meet for the ROT rally. I'm staying at thr Super 8 Airport South and will be heading up on Friday morning. I'll be heading back home on Sunday morning.

Great looking Ride! I had a 2005 Softail Springer trike (Lehman) for a couple of years and put over 20000 miles on it. The bike was a blast to ride. I recommend you do the HD required service on the springer front end due to the added stress. Mine called for a bit of maintenance every 2500 miles and a LOT of work every 10000.

I'm happy to hear you like the springer front. I am in the process of putting one on mine with seven degree cups and have been pretty nervous about how it will handle. It looks great!!
