Frame welds on the GL1800

I am thinking of buying a GL1800 trike. I live in Minnesota and now have the winter to research and learn about the machine itself. I read in a article yesterday that the 2001-2004 years had a problem with the frame welds cracking. Has this problem been fixed or should one stay away from these years.

Thanks for any info.

Recall was issued for frame weld. Wouldn't worry about. Just have a dealer run the VIN to see if bike was involved and had the recall performed.
As far as studying trikes-I did! Took almost 4yrs to decide on which one and almost that much time spent on finding a good installer!
After all of that, the choice was made and I wrote a little ditty for it"
Test the rest
Then buy the best

PS
The newer the model, the better IMHO.
06 and newer has the premium audio w/rear speakers.
The NAV and the Comfort System features are NOT worth the money.
There are few conversions that retain ABS. There are several discussions pointing to not installing a front rake kit on an AirBag model.
Straight axle models corner "better" than IRS if you like to blast the twisties.
IRS models ride smoother, especially those that lengthen the wheel base and widen it over most kits.(Hannigan does that)
