Feds increase National Park Fees

I can certainly see where they need the money for the management and maintenance of the parks. The parks are about the first thing to be cut when it comes to government cutting costs and it happens a lot.

On the other hand....I wonder if they haven't just priced themselves out of the market - thus having the whole deal backfire on them.

I can see people paying the higher prices occasionally, but not near as often as they attended the parks before.

As has been said....time will tell....

Dockem posted this on 4/23/2017 at which time I purchased my lifetime pass. Thanks, Jim.

"Nat'l Park Lifetime pass for 62 and older
Right now, Americans ages 62 and older can score a senior lifetime pass to national parks, monuments and other federal recreational lands for just $10. But according to AARP, the pass price is expected to jump to $80 — the same fee charged for a standard annual pass — later this year."

Things have or are changing for the park passes. I got my Lifetime pass for Free as a Veteran last year. I'm not sure if they still offer that

Federal owned ones yes , not so with state owned or Town owned ones. Some do - Some don’t

Got mine before the price increase. Not that there are many places to use it in Texas. Could have used it in California but was too young. Now I do good to ride 200 miles. So just using it is on my bucket list.:p:p:p

Some state parks will honor that pass

Many parks here in Fla have secure motorcycle parking

Not a bad deal IMO

When we took my brother in law and kids to the fort in StAugustine is when I got my pass, it paid for itself that day getting 3 in for free;)

We got ours years ago for $10 also. Good investment. If you visit parks as much as we do, Even the new price will pay for itself. And yes, some State parks will honor it.;)
